Quicksilver 640 Pilothouse (2008). Great boat for The Thames and light coastal use, re-engined in 2015 with a very economic Mariner 25HP 4stroke EFI. Can sleep four with camping enclosure.
Ideal for one person, a couple or a family of four, and can comfortably accomodate up to 6 underway, or more when stationary. Very seaworthy, perfect for trips downstream through Central London and upstream to Oxford via Kingston, Windsor, Henley, Cliveden, Marlow etc.
Build & Engine:
2008 QS Pilothouse 640, built by Brunswick Marine in Poland.
HIN: PL-BAL-AS879C808
2015 25HP Mariner EFI Four Stroke – well maintained.
Engine Serial Number: OR630234
Engine serviced regularly since purchased, by D&R and Linden Lewis (last serviced January 2023)
Prop shaft replaced 2020
New fuel lines and filter 2019, with new tank connections & tank steam cleaned.
Emergency fuel shut off fitted 2023 by D&R to suit 2023 BSS.
Famously seaworthy hull; it has been great (very comfortable) when passing through 1m+ chop through central London caused by Thames Clippers that would seriously trouble/wobble a lesser vessel!
Equipment & Leisure:
Elegant Bimini that can be left in situ for the majority of the Spring/Summer/Autumn boating season.
We still have the original bimini straps (though photos show us using ribbon)
Full Camping Enclosure and Bimini by Nicky’s Canvas Works (Brighton) - with windows and roll up sections on zips to sides and rear.
Value of canvas works at about £2500.00 - £3000.00 based on comparable costs to buy a new one.
Cockpit Table
Integrated aft seating to either side of engine well.
Baitwell functions as a very large and useable cool box, as well as a seat, of course.
Cockpit is unusually large, considerably larger outside space than many much bigger boats. Great as a balcony on the river. Accommodates a further 4 folding chairs.
Rooflight & windows all open and operate.
Totally disinfected portaloo – never used by us!
Lots (and lots) of storage, under deck in 3 large lockable lazarettes and within cabin.
Seats two in wheelhouse; seats fold down to increase internal cabin space.
Draining basin in wheelhouse.
Space for gas stove in wheelhouse.
Sleeps two in cabin below wheelhouse.
Vinyl covers and cushions all in good order to cabin.
Infill section to form double bed with cushion.
Plenty of storage in cabin for covers, equipment, life jackets, paddle boards etc.
Sleeps a further two within camping enclosure on camping beds or inflatable mattresses. Can use double mattress if cockpit table taken down (easy).
Twin batteries (one running, other charges)
Navman VHF 7100 (Marine Radio)
Navman Fish 4500 (very useful for Speed Through Water and depth)
Navman Tracker 5605 (Very useful for location and Speed Over Ground.
Ritchie Compass
Automatic and Manual Bilge Pumps
Self-Draining Deck
Motorized Windlass (Serviced and plastic parts replaced with steel in 2020)
Anchor, chain & rope (anchor roller replaced 2023)
Horn fitted in 2020
Interior and deck lights.
Running Lights (Port, Starboard and Anchor)
Windscreen wiper - Wiper and Motor replaced 2020
Floodlight to wheelhouse roof with internal switch - fitted 2020

Ensign Mount fitted 2020
Certification & Paperwork:
Boat Safety Scheme Certificate in place until April 2027.
Thames License paid for the year.
Low insurance (£174.99 for 2023)
Extremely low running costs, due to being engined for inland waterways and light coastal use.
Great family boat, can sleep four if two on deck under canvas and two in cabin.
Huge deck for such a compact boat – great for sitting outside on as a balcony on the water, even if not moving along.
Has taken us up past Windsor and down past The Thames Barrier with great comfort and ease – and almost without fuel costs.
Could easily be re-engined (overall cost about £6000.00 subject to spec of new engine, rigging costs locally and balance gained for existing)
Regularly serviced and well maintained, plenty of receipts & paperwork on file since ownership in March 2019 and prior.
SSR192026 - Small Ships Register to 2028.
