Frolic 21 for sale in United Kingdom for £29,950

After a long history with HSC, this unique Frolic 21 is now for sale with batteries installed in 2021, new cover in 2022 and revarnished in 2020 by our good selves at Beale Park boat store. Tiller steering is a feature with the advantage of a pram hood over the aft third of the cockpit. Mahogany decks run through to the cockpit sole and the lining of the fibreglass hull. The electric motor is located amidships under a solid wood cover which doubles as a low table.

The Frolic 21 design, reinterpreted in the nineteen eighties by Andrew Wolstenholme from a classic Edwardian steam launch, remains a favourite with an easily driven hull ideal for low wash and fitted with high efficiency electric propulsion. Indeed the Steam and Electric Launch company built over 100 hulls in the last two decades of the twentieth century and the mould was then handed to Creative Marine to continue with Rupert Latham's good work. When this company's owners went into retirement the mould tool passed to Landamores of Hoveton where new ones can be built to order.

The Preterist has a 2 kw 48 volt electric motor with 8 x 6 volt lead acid batteries. It is highly maneouvrable and has a range of at least 8 hours with more in reserve if river speeds are adhered to. It was the Frolic 21 which carried off the trophy for 24 hours non stop cruising in the late nineteen eighties.

The full length cover is lightweight and covers the whole boat from bow to stern with the canopy in situ. Good covers are the key to keeping varnish in good condition. A zip on the starboard side enables easy access. The Preterist is sold with ropes, fenders and charging lead. Should a company wish to purchase there is a commercial BSS valid through to 2025. For a luxury operator The Preterist could easily be used for private hire as she was this past season at the Beetle and Wedge boathouse restaurant in Moulsford on Thames. She will be replaced by an electric 12 seater for the 2023 season.
