DESCRIPTION

The Bearded Lady is the perfect live aboard houseboat and cruiser...for a life less ordinary

The Bearded Lady is a three masted steel schooner based on a Bruce Roberts design. She was originally being built as a sail training vessel but unfortunately the person in charge of the project died and the building stopped. In 2010 the Tall Ships Race came to Hartlepool and the local marina bought and completed her to celebrate this event. She was going to be used as a training and party vessel afterwards but this didn't happen and the vessel was laid up for some time until I purchased her and refitted her to what you can see today. She is a go anywhere vessel and is also fitted out as the perfect live aboard including Isotherm CR90 freezer, Isotherm CR130D Fridge, full size New World cooker and a Zanussi Aquacycle 1300 washing machine.

Despite the one-off nature, the build was completed with MCA coding and stability tests as she was going to be used commercially.

She has a full set of sails, six in all, and is powered by a Cummins 6B5.9M engine, with 435 hours running time, through a Newage PRM 302 gearbox.

She is 14 meters overall, but with the bowsprit raised only 12 and a waterline length of 10 meters. The maximum beam is nearly 5 meters and the draft is 1.7 meters, with a long keel.

She is equipped with an Icom M323 DSC radio, Advansea S400 depth sounder, TMQ AP55 autopilot and a Furuno GP1670 chart plotter.

The domestic electrics are 24V DC supplied by 12 x 80 amp hour AGM batteries, with separate engine starting batteries. The mains charging is from a 30 amp Sterling charger and the engine has a Sterling 80 amp alternator controller fitted. There is 240 volt AC throughout as well as USB charging points and an inverter.

She carries two 19kg propane bottles which run the Morco instantaneous water heater, New World full size cooker and two Dickinson Newport room sealed heaters. A gas alarm and bubble tester are fitted.
