This Rinker 400 EC is representative of a great value in a 40' express cruiser. She has outstanding headroom in the main salon, and a standards list that’s hard to match. The boat is agressively priced so you owe it to yourself to see her in person to see exactly you are getting for your money. Axius Controls makes docking a breeze!

There’s also much to like in the cabin of the 400 EC. The layout is the usual fore and aft staterooms with the salon in between. The salon sofa is to starboard, across from the galley, and offers a fold out option for converting to a double bed. Removing the pedestal table opens up the room for entertaining. With 6’10" (2.08 m) of headroom, this salon is anything but cramped. Adding to that voluminous list of standards is an 18,000 BTU reverse cycle air conditioner with another 7,000 BTU unit for the aft stateroom. This is a noteworthy standard item as many builders make it optional because they have buyers in northern climes. This is a good example of what we mean when we say that Rinker is trying to make their 40 compelling by loading it with standard stuff that is normally optional. The floor package is standard and includes a cherry and holly table, steps, and deck in both the salon and aft cabin.
Rinker got it right with the 400 Express Cruiser (called the 390
Express Cruiser when she was introduced in 2006), a valuepriced
sterndrive cruiser with all the features one expects in a
modern family express this size. She’s built on a solid fiberglass
hull with moderate beam and a relatively steep 18 degrees of transom
deadrise. The 400’s tall freeboard results in an exceptionally
spacious interior with nearly seven feet of cabin headroom. The
master stateroom is forward in this layout and includes a queen
island berth and flat-screen TV. But it’s the huge aft stateroom that
comes as a surprise, a feat made possible by Rinker’s decision to
use space-saving sterndrive power in this boat rather than more
conventional inboard (V-drive) power. Both staterooms come with
privacy doors rather than curtains—a real plus. Satin-finished
cherry joinery is applied throughout the interior that also features
a Corian galley counter and teak flooring. The split-level cockpit,
with seating for a small crowd, includes a full-service wet bar
with icemaker, double helm seat with flip-up bolster, walk-through
windshield, and transom shower. MerCruiser 375hp I/Os cruise at
25 knots (35+ top). Axius Drives became optional in 2008
