OWNERS COMMENTS

Owners Comments:
The wheelhouse, which can be enclosed or opened fully using four framed teak doors, allows full standing headroom. She has made safe progress through all sorts of weather and always kept us safe, warm and dry. Aventurera really is a year round boat - see the Hardy Owners Club Magazine's account of our Christmas cruise.
Below, the cabin seats 6 people comfortably in the light and airy dinette which in turn converts to a large double berth. With a long pilot berth which goes under the cockpit, 3 people can be fully accommodated to sleep aboard. The galley has two large stainless steel sinks, a two burner and grill gas stove, a fridge with freezing compartment and ample locker and draw space. There is a seperate toilet/shower compartment and a new calirifier delivers piping hot water, heated by the engine or electrical immersion. We have hardly ever turned on the immersion heater as the water stays hot for a long time after the engine is turned off.
Traditional wide decks are surrounded with high stainless steel side and roof rails. With easy side and aft access from the pontoon, the side and fore decks can be safely stepped onto while underway. There is an abundance of stowage in the lazerette, underseat lockers, and below a hanging cupboard and many lockers in the galley, dinette and pilot berth. There is also cupboard storage in the heads / shower compartment while in the main saloon, wide windows and a ceiling light / escape hatch offer a great deal of light below during the day and multiple lighting options flexibility at night.
The build is all traditional Hardy, initial lay-up Lloyds approved isophthalic gelcoat and resin. Subsequent lay-up orthophthalic resin. Stiffened with heavy GRP foam filled stringers and a hand bonded plywood grid. Bonded waterproof plywood equipment beds and foundations. Hand bonded, resin coated waterproof plywood bulkheads. Solid bonded engine beds with integral plate steel mountings. Additional features to the hull are a Vetus bow thruster and epoxy treatment below the waterline offering long term protection. There is a 4 blade prop which is well protected by a steel skeg.
Hull and superstructure are bonded and bolted together using stainless steel bolts to 10mm backing plates. Built in 2000, her Yanmar 230hp engine, bowthruster and all aspects of Aventurera have been regularly checked and, if needed, replaced or improved.
In 2016 a major overhaul with new seacocks, head, manifold, cockpit covers and much more. In 2017 we removed and steam cleaned the fuel tanks adding inspection hatches, installed two new exhaust elbows and professionally restored the teak cockpit deck. In Aug 2018 we had new cushions made for the cockpit by Distinctive Designs who cleverly design an infill configuration to provide full beam width seating. She has been annually lifted, cut and polished and anti-fouled over the epoxy, anodes replaced and engine serviced. Aventurera has an extensive nav spec inc 12" Raymarine C125 and digital radar, AIS transceiver, ICOM DSC radio, Navtex and Autohelm all linked to the multi-function display by seatalk connectivity. While way beyond what most would consider neccessary for a boat of Aventurera's size, it completely matches her seaworthyness and long distance cruising abilities. We have often been the only one out when many have stayed in the marina.
Aventurera is an exceptional boat for its size and she has been a pleasure to own. She is a wonderful boat for somebody who is perhaps moving into motorboating from sailing, or a superb boat for a couple or small family looking for a safe, economical and dependable first cruiser.
