1987 56’ Ocean Alexander "Reveille"
RE-POWERED & HIGHLY MODIFIED! OVER $450,000 SPENT IN UPGRADES!
Reveille has been cared for by real yachtsmen who have spared no expense maintaining the yacht. There was over $450,000.00 spent up-grading the yacht in the last few years. Some of the up-grades are high-lighted in bold.
Description:
Reveille is a classic,1987 56’ Ocean Alexander Motor Yacht built in Taiwan. The company was started in 1978 by Alexander Chueh and the first yacht built was a 50’ pilothouse designed by architect Ed Monk, Jr. In the mid 1980’s Ocean Alexander launched a series of contemporary pilothouse motor yachts of which this is one, and to date more than 1,500 yachts have sold. Each model is built with beautiful teak wood and fine joinery work.
Perfect for someone looking for a quality motor yacht or trawler and complete with everything needed for cruising, Reveille has a lot packed into its 56’ and 18’ beam. There are 4 staterooms and 4 heads, each with a stall shower. The master stateroom is located aft via a private stairway and features a king size berth. The other three staterooms are forward, accessed by a stairway from the pilothouse.
Reveille’s highlights include a large aft deck, comfortable salon, and full-size galley-up with a U-shaped dinette & table, and a spacious, full-beam engine room. There is fully functioning lower station and a fly bridge station with all controls. The bridge is large with plenty of seating and a fiberglass hard top.
The mechanical equipment was replaced with Detroit/MTU Series 60 engines, new quick shift electronic controls and two Westerbeke generators (12.5 & 15 KW).
Walk Through or Layout:
Reveille can be entered from either side deck or from the swim platform to the aft deck.
The spacious, teak-floored aft deck provides an aft station with electric engine controls and bow and stern thruster controls, starboard. A teak stairway, portside, leads to the flybridge that is fitted with a hardtop and hard Lexan enclosure forward. The fully appointed upper helm with Stidd helm chairs is surrounded by a nice L-shaped seating area with fold down table and a bench on the opposite side. Aft, a Boston Whaler tender and davit sit atop a large boat deck.
Entry to the interior is either from the side deck directly into the pilothouse through a starboard door or into the full-width salon via wing doors, port and starboard, or the aft deck through teak-framed glass double doors. The salon features beautiful sightlines both port, starboard, and aft and is furnished with a huge leather sectional that surrounds a large coffee table. Across the room is a custom-mounted high-definition 55” Samsung QLED Smart TV. Top-of-the-line electronics and surround sound are housed below in teak cabinetry.
From the salon, a private staircase leads below to the master stateroom that features a king size berth, private head, and shower, hanging lockers, and drawer storage.
Forward of the salon a well-designed lower helm with a large, raised dinette is to port, providing both captain and guests a wonderful place to relax on long passages. The galley is aft of the pilothouse and features an abundance of cabinetry, natural light, and a convenient pass-through to the salon. Recently updated, the galley is fitted with beautiful new countertops that match those of the salon wet bar and the desk in the lower stateroom/office.
Guest accommodations are accessed via a staircase that leads below from the pilothouse. The VIP stateroom, midships, offers a large queen berth, vanity, and ensuite head. Forward, a single stateroom with built in desk also serves as an office. Directly across the passageway is a head that doubles as a day head. Forward in the bow, the third guest stateroom with ensuite head features a double berth and overhead single bunk.
The engine room with 6’6” headroom is bright, white, and clean with an excellent walk-in access. Full beam, it easily accommodates the Series 60 diesels, twin Westerbeke generators in sound shields, NAIAD stabilizers, and 12- and 110-volt lighting. The well-thought-out layout displayed throughout the yacht is evident in this space as well, making this space an easily serviceable and pleasurable work area.

Electronics, Plot House:
A great deal of time and money was spent in 2008 totally updating both the pilothouse helm and the flybridge helm. All old electronics were removed, and an entire new custom fiberglass console was fabricated on the bridge. A new teak faced, and leather trimmed Himalaya console was fabricated for the lower helm. Both helms are thoroughly modernized, clean, well designed, and feature innovative Furuno NavNet 3D systems.

Mechanicals:
Over $450,000 was spent in re-powering this fine yacht with Series 60 Detroit/MTU Diesels. These 4-cycle diesel engines have low hours (516 hrs.) and are easily handled with electronic controls at all three stations. At the same time, the main power plants were done, and the generators were upgraded and replaced with 15 kw and 12.5 kw Westerbeke. The full-beam walk-in engine room easily accommodates this machinery and is clean, bright, and well laid out.

Salesman’s Comments:
Reveille is in excellent condition and ready-to-go, outfitted with everything needed for long or short cruises including stabilizers, bow & stern thrusters and four nice staterooms. The walk-in engine room makes servicing easy with everything accessible. If you are looking for a yacht that is ready to go, look no further. Excellent value.
