Classic Lady is a unique 1930s steel cabin cruiser offered for sale after a full refit and refurbishment at a leading boat yard.
We believe that Classic Lady originated from John Morris and Co (Gosport) Ltd in 1936 as a coastal motor cruiser. Some research shows that she has spent most of her life on the Thames at Shepperton.
We have owned her for 12 years. During the last 4years she has seen a complete refit and engine recondition, all ancillaries, cooling, electrics, gearboxes, and props replaced at large expense by Harbour Marine Services in Southwold. All the mechanical parts, including controls, cooling, exhaust, electrics and batteries have been replaced with new.
The twin BMC diesels run beautifully and have seen minimal use after a full rebuild and reconditioning. She has new morse controllers, full dashboard instruments and a good turn of speed if required. She has new cutlass bearings, propshafts and props with rope cutters and anodes.
Her steel hull has been taken back to bare metal, primered, epoxy coated and then painted and antifouled. The interior of the hull has been oxide primered. She has a grey boottop and new nameboards that are removeable should the new owner wish to rename her. Mast, anchor lights and navigation lights have all been fitted new. Teak boxes for the navigation lights and new doors and runners were also newly manufactured. Classic Lady has a full teak deck.
Classic Lady's interior is finished in a mix of hardwoods with mahogany being the main wood used throughout. She has a comfortable two berth cabin with electricity, shore power, sink, gas cooker with grill, diesel heater, and a fully serviced Blakes head. There is an integrated sound system throughout the boat.
She is very comfortable and safe at night, a very warm and cosy wheelhouse and cabin and convertible beds that turn into one double if required. There is also an additional hammock bed in the wheelhouse. She is perfect for cruising on inland waterways, tidal rivers and also canals due to her narrow beam. Staying on board is safe and comfortable and also benefits from a lockable cabin.
She comes with a full high quality boat cover manufactured by Jeckylls. Boat safety certificates are provided as are full invoices of all work carried out.
Classic Lady's narrow beam and shallow draft make her an ideal weekend boat for exploring our canals and rivers. Please note that the images in this ad are from 2 years ago when she returned from the refit. She has been moored in a local marina since and there are some signs of ageing of the wooden varish and in the hull paint, which is reflected in the low price being asked.
