REFITS IN 2012, 2014, 2018 AND 2021
FAT SHEILA is a custom, one-of-a-kind, transatlantic motoryacht. It is for the yachtsman that demands the finest. She is available at a very attractive price and ready to explore the world!
FAT SHEILA represents a rare opportunity to purchase a world class and world capable yacht of fantastic comfort and pedigree. She was originally launched at Jongert in 1988 at 71’ and then returned to Jongert in 1995 where the original designer added a larger more comfortable aft deck and new European style transom extension, bringing the yacht to 78’, giving her a much greater cruising range with her additional fuel capacity. Proving herself like few other yachts of her size can, FAT SHEILA made several transatlantic crossings on her own bottom; approx. 100,000+ nautical miles.
Her knowledgeable owners have made many fantastic upgrades and gone to great lengths to ensure all of her systems are in top working order; going through the ship from stem to stern servicing and upgrading. FAT SHEILA just came out of the yard after another $300,000 refit with upgrades. With her updated Naiad Zero speed stabilization system she is more stable and comfortable than one can imagine and the Zero speed feature allows you to anchor anywhere in total comfort.
FAT SHEILA has a complete set of build plans on a single CD.
FAT SHEILA is a fantastic motoryacht with extensive updates and features; there has been no expense spared by this owner since purchase.
OVERVIEW
FAT SHEILA is an incredible ship. Everywhere you look, you will be amazed at the quality of her
build. The engines are Caterpillar work engines, not typical yacht engines. The generators are
commercial equipment, they run at 1200 RPM, not 1800 RPM as the new units do now. Everywhere
you look thought the yacht she has massive stainless fittings and you can easily see the quality
built into the entire vessel.
The master stateroom with ensuite head is amazing. The master bath is huge with Jacuzzi tub, dual
sinks and large shower, being aft and totally private. The shafts are sealed in oil and then cooled
by sea water, which is an amazing feature. Almost all boats have shafts that are cooled by sea
water. Chances are you have never seen an oil cooled shaft. This is “big ship stuff”. The advantage
is complete quiet and no salt water damage to the shaft. Her current owners have slept in the
master stateroom many times while running, and say they could've been staying in the “Four
Seasons”. The naval architect that oversaw the current owners refit stated that these are normally
only found on megayachts. Full real walkaround decks, oversized anchors and windlass, flybridge
with comfortable seating throughout and room enough for any party.
All the staterooms have great ventilation with hatches, screens and dorades for fresh air.
The salon and pilothouse areas have opening windows and screen doors.
The screen doors are a work of art. Important to note that because she was originally built to US SPECS,
she is a 60 cycle boat.
Just one small example of the fine quality: the (8) deck chairs, the (4) arm chairs and the (2)
Commodore Steamers on the aft deck are made by Barlow Tyrie. These are the finest English teak
chairs (all chairs refinished).
FAT SHEILA received a fresh bottom paint job in 2021.
See a complete list of additional updates in the "UPGRADES" section of the listing specifications.
DECK & HULL
AFT DECK
The spacious covered aft deck features built-in exterior seating aft, custom teak table and finest
quality English teak by Barlow Tyrie: (8) deck chairs, (4) arm chairs (around teak table) and the (2)
Commodore Steamers (all chairs hand finished). There are transom doors, both port & starboard,
leading down to the swim platform; and a hatch to access the lazarette.
FOREDECK
The expansive Foredeck has built-in seating on the forward cabintop with comfortable
backrest and storage below each seat, along with storage cabinets both port and starboard. This
is another lovely private entertaining or sunbathing area.
FLYBRIDGE
The Flybridge offers full instrumentation and is designed for maximum comfort for any party. The
flybridge is fully covered from fore to aft with a bimini top with a 2014 3-sided EZ2CY
enclosure. There are 2 large comfortable L-settees with teak tables, both port and starboard. Aft of
the settees is the wet bar, featuring sink and Sanyo mini refrigerator. Toward the aft of the
flybridge are two Chaise lounge chairs & davit located aft of that.
SALON/DINING
FAT SHEILA features an absolutely beautiful an elegant teak interior which can easily be closed off
from the pilothouse via a recessed door on the forward bulkhead. (3)full size opening windows,
French doors aft, as well as (3) overhead vents, provide fantastic ventilation throughout.
GALLEY
Well-appointed full-size galley which has the option of being open, or not, to the dining area and
salon by way of a hinged privacy panel and door. A full size opening window and overhead
ventilation assures plenty of fresh air. All new galley appliances installed about 1 or 2 years ago, as
reported by owner.
PILOTHOUSE
FAT SHEILA features a well laid-out Pilothouse with a removable helm leaning post, port and
starboard wing doors (w/screens) and an L-shaped dinette/seating area. There is also a day head
that serves the entire main deck, with wood paneling and a decorative sink located aft under the
ladder to the flybridge and a very large full-size chart table area forward.
ENGINE & MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT
Accessed via watertight door in the starboard guest cabin or port side main deck. Well designed with full walkaround main engines and excellent access to generators.
ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
MASTER STATEROOM
The large master stateroom is accessed via its own private companionway from the aft end of the
salon ensuring complete privacy from crew and guests.

HISTORY FROM CURRENT OWNER
The extremely knowledgeable, wealthy yachtsman that built the boat originally had several
production boats. He wanted the finest yacht available that could cross the Atlantic and tour
Europe and the Americas; no expense was spared. He chose Jongert for several reasons:
1. Finest Dutch quality. Dutch then and today, some of the finest builders in the world.
2. Their boats routinely circled the globe.
3. The joinery work is incredibly finished.
4. He wanted a boat with a Lloyd 100A4 certificate. Note that almost all boats built today and
then are “built to ABS or Lloyds standard”. They do not have a certificate. There is no one
from outside to certify that the builder really met these standards when built.
5. He wanted an all aluminum boat, weight saving and great strength.
