OWNERS COMMENTS

OWNERS COMMENTS
We purchased Crazy Suzy, formally, “Too Much Selection” in December 2004 from “West Water Brokerage” in the Walton Backwater’s with the aim of having a boat for:
1. Coastal and inland Cruising Britain and the near continent, short-handed.
2. Accommodating our daughters and their families
3. We could race in local and club events.
4. Would be light, quick and pleasing and to sail.
She has fulfilled our expectations in every respect.
We have cruised as far north and west to the Outer Hebrides, South and west to Britany and from there France, Belgium and inland and coastal waters of the Netherlands. Throughout this time, we have been confident and never worried that she would not do the job safely in a variety of conditions.
Launched in 1984 on the Clyde, Crazy Suzy had a Triple Spreader rig with we believe the otherwise standard specification throughout of Transverse Spreader’s, Runners and check stays and a 12hp Yanmar engine and 8 berths.
During our ownership we have:
• Changed the sail plan to a new Z Spars” mast with swept back spreader’s, extended to the Gunwale and dispensing with Runners etc.
• Purchased a deck sweeping full hoist GP Sails radial cut Dyneema reinforced Blade Jib and UV cover, designed and built a foresail roller to improve ease of handling and a One Sails tri-radial Dyneema re-enforced fully battened mainsail. Coupled with a Hood aramid re-enforced parallel cut working Jib for cruising.
• Renewed Standing rigging and fitted Dyneema running rigging.
• Fitted A new 25 HP BETA diesel engine and Brunton 2 bladed Varifold folding propellor
• Replaced all Cushions and covers and up-graded headlining
• Moved the chart table and hanging locker to give “line of sight” contact between the Chart table and Helms person and increased galley space, added to the insulation and fitted a Waeco cooling unit to the Cool box, installing a calorifier with immersion heater and engine water heating.
• Fitted a Raymarine C70 Multi-function display Radar and Autohelm Wind depth and speed and SPX5 Course Computer together with a Comar AIS and Actisense Multiplexer. together with an Icom - ICM 505 radio and command mike all fitted to a single display in a custom pod in the cockpit giving Radar and AIS overlay on chart navigation and autopilot and communications capability without having to leave the helm.
• Fitted a Merlin Marine DC Electrical system with integrated Buss Bars and fuse and switch/ Breaker panel on a single panel supplied through a master fuse box for starting and Domestic supplies and Sterling 240AC/12V DC battery charger and 2x105AH Lifeline AGM aero Batteries
• Tecma 2 ring Grill and oven Gas cooker
Repairs Maintenance Modifications and Guidance
During our ownership we have carried out a number of repairs, re-enforcements and modifications to Crazy Suzy which have in significant part been with guidance and advice from appropriate professionals and most significantly,
• Re-enforcements to Floors and hull around the Keel area,
• Re-enforcement to stress areas for alternative high load Sheeting and Runner attachment, Keel re-seating and Rig changes.
• Preparation laminating and bonding procedures, materials and inspections.
We have closely followed the advice given and been grateful for both professional and supplier advice and guidance and pleased with the results.
