DESCRIPTION

La Petite Crevette

It always sounds better in French! Shrimp was constructed of mahogany on oak by Jack Powles of Norfolk in the 1940s. Presumably this would be the post war era of the decade as few yards were building private boats during the earlier years. She is carvel constructed and beautifully varnished as is clear when you read the latest survey which values the boat close to 20k. However the current owner who has cared for the boat lovingly over the past twenty odd years is yet another of our owners who says he just wants someone to take her on and enjoy using her. You will find inside the engine box, which doubles as a table, an electric propulsion system installed in 2000 and powered by a 1.5 kw 36 amp motor with zero maintenance gel batteries added in 2016.

The initial refurbishment took place on Oulton Broad, Suffolk in 1987 with word carried out by Saunders Boatbuilding and then at some point she came to the Thames and was beautifully restored by Onshore marine at which point the petrol inboard was swapped for an electric alternative by Thames Electric Launch Company. Steering is via a varnished oak tiller that fits the externally mounted rudder.

The internal furnishings are dark green with a smart and effective Sunbrella cover to match which comes on a stainless steel frame.

The BSS certificate is valid until June 2024 and this launch would easily carry 6 passengers in comfort.
