Built by FLASHCAT in 2016/17, Afrikat 69 is a 69-foot-long commercial motor catamaran designed to be accessible for all including wheelchair users and especially designed to be able to register in the special ship’s registry of the Canary Islands, providing substantial tax benefits. Its exclusive multifunctional design turns this catamaran into an ideal vessel for cruising, charter or fishing.
Flybridge
The 21-meter (69 foot) catamaran boasts a stunning flybridge of approx. 35 square meters where the wheelhouse is situated and with highly comfortable and beautifully upholstered seats, a sofa dinette with a capacity of 8 people, standing bar with BBQ, refrigerator/freezer and sink creating a pleasant and relaxing area.
Wheelhouse
Equipped with all SOLAS regulated equipment, VHF, GMDSS, GPS, RADAR, PLOTTER, FISH FINDER AIS system, all access to all alarms bilge pumps, firefighting equipment, smoke alarms and cameras which are situated in the salon and back deck. This zone is surrounded by high quality marine windows which can be opened or closed with ease.
Main Deck
The approx. 75 square meter front deck comprises a large sun area with chill-out zone up to 56 passengers on individual sun-loungers, safely accessible via wide corridors on both sides. The catamaran is fully designed and accessible for wheelchair users including disabled toilet facilities.
Under this deck is located an ample approx. 70 square meter storage area which is divided into three different areas. This area also houses the septic, blackwater, and freshwater tanks, the water heater for the entire boat and the integrated system of the anchor.
Stern (back) deck
Access to the catamaran is via the wheelchair friendly boarding bridge to the stern deck. This is an amazing area providing relaxing beanbags and a comfortable table and sofa dinette area. This is also where the disabled toilet is situated which incorporates a shower.
Main access to the sea is also from the stern deck - the safety structure (kept closed whilst navigating) encompassing the entire back of the catamaran can be opened to allow access from either the deck or from the platforms on each side of the catamaran which have the comfortable, wide footed ladders integrated.
Entrance to the spacious interior salon area is from the stern deck.
Salon
The main bar is situated in the spacious salon area including 3 fridge’s and 1 freezer, beer tap with glass cleaning station and 60-inch television. There are comfortable table and sofa seating areas for 27 people with ample storage under the seating and 220v PowerPoints throughout the salon.
The interior is designed to guarantee the highest standards of comfort and be easy to maintain. Great care has been taken to ensure the smallest detail. The spectacular views that can be enjoyed from the salon, its window front and natural light turn this space into a warm place to relax at sea.
Extra windows have been incorporated into the main window structure to create more ventilation.
Engine room
Access to the engine rooms is given from the stern deck - these oversized engine rooms consist of the two main engine 380 hp Yanmar direct injection, one 9.9 kw generator and one 4.8 kw generator, battery bank just for the house and two battery backup banks for emergency purposes. A 5000-w inverter and an extra hydraulic system for the rudders as a backup.
Portside
Here are situated the galley and the second bedroom. The galley is a very spacious area with numerous work tops, sink, American fridge freezer, microwave, cupboards and storage areas.
Portside bedroom is a spacious area with a large double bed and en-suite bathroom toilet with shower. Ample storage is provided from wardrobe, underbed storage and two bedside cabinets. Interior design reflects the salon area and is relaxing and easy to maintain.
Starboard side
The main bedroom, very spacious with a large double bed, bedside table and television. Ample storage is provided by wardrobe, underbed storage and numerous cupboards. This bedroom has separate toilet and shower areas. Interior design reflects the salon area and is relaxing and easy to maintain.
Outside this bedroom is an extra toilet, with separate sink and mirror area.
Extra information
JBL Audio sound system is fitted internally throughout the catamaran with total of 10 speakers and subwoofers controlled by 2 24volt amplifiers and Bluetooth. Each separate area of sound system is controlled independently from the bar and from the plotter GPS in the wheelhouse.
The highest standards of safety have been incorporated into the design of the catamaran. Smoke alarms are situated in all areas of the vessel with the alarm system controlled from the wheelhouse. 3 water pumps for firefighting which can also be used as bilge pumps (3 times 27000L/H) in addition to all the common bilge pumps throughout the vessel.
The fire system throughout the vessel exists of fm200 firefighting system for the engine rooms. These are controlled from the main deck. Fire extinguishers (13) and fire hose system (2) with 3 different pumps with a capacity of 27000 litre per hour are distributed throughout the vessel.
The lifeboats (VIKING) are integrated in the stern of the boat in uniquely designed pockets which provide easy and quick release and add flow to all decks.
