An immaculate and exceptionally pretty sailing dinghy, finished to a very high standard and kept undercover so that she is in really superb condition. Sadly for sale due to family health issues. Built from the modern method of glued marine plywood which makes her very light and strong, but also means the hull does not dry out when the boat is ashore, so she can be launched without needing to take up and without leaking. The Guillemot was designed by Oughtred over 30 years ago and was based on a 19th century ships boat, designed for sail and oar and intended to carry 3 adults comfortably, with the capacity to carry up to 5 adults if needed in the right conditions. Because of the lightweight construction this is a boat that can be easily launched and retrieved by one person, handles beautifully under sail and oar but has the load carrying capacity to take the whole family out sailing. She might also make a superb tender to a larger yacht, to be hung in davits as an elegant and classy alternative to a modern inflatable.   Length 11’6” Beam 4’5”   Construction Clinker planked in Gaboon marine plywood glued with West System epoxy. This makes for a light and very rigid hull that requires minimal maintenance and does not dry out when ashore. Varnished Khaya mahogany plywood sheerstrake. Utile stem, keel and varnished transom. Floors across the centreline to provide strength are made from Utile. Gunwhales, inwhales and rubbing strakes made from Utile. 2 rowing positions with oak rowlock supports. Breasthook and quarter knees made from English oak. Varnished utile thwarts supported by oak knees. Slatted sole boards believed to be Western Red Cedar, all removable so the bilge can be cleaned easily. Centreplate made Utile, raised and lowered by hand. Fixed blade rudder made from solid Utile with bronze hangings. Pair of varnished oars by James Byam-Shaw of Maldon that fit under the thwarts. Beautiful bronze rowlocks that fit into holes in the thwart when not in use. Hull paint and varnish is Epifanes 2 pack polyurethane for a low maintenance and durable finish.     Rig Balanced lug rig on a varnished spruce unstayed mast. The mast is stepped on the keel and held with a beautiful bronze fitting against the forward thwart making it very simple to step and unstep the mast. Bamboo boom and lug yard which are supremely light and strong. Seizing’s along the bamboo spars to stop them splitting. Running rigging is classic buff braid on braid line with tuffnel blocks. Mainsail from Cormorant Sails in crisp white terylene with a single reefing point.     Equipment Launching trolley from Sovereign trailers All over boat cover 4 x fenders Mooring lines Paddle Pair of oars and pair of bronze rowlocks Mast, boom and yard Mainsail with sail cover Sole boards Rudder, tiller and centreplate       Full specification and details available upon request       Disclaimer: These particulars have been prepared in good faith from information provided by the Vendors and are intended as a guide, Wooden Ships cannot guarantee or warrant the accuracy of this information nor warrant the condition of the vessel.
