1995 President 55 Motor Yacht

The Perfect Economical Motor Yacht – Alternative to Trawler

Great Loop Voyager and Live aboard Vessel

This President Marine Intl. 54.5 has more room than any motor yacht or trawler of this size and class. It’s a perfect layout for a live aboard vessel.

The “Spirit of Houston IV” was designed by Annapolis, Maryland based yacht designers, John Stewart and Bob Hoffman. The Electrical system was designed by Ward Electric of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; The modified Deep V hull vessel was built by President Marine Intl. at the company’s Tainan Taiwan yard.

President Marine Intl. built approximately 24 of these 54.5 Sundeck Cockpit Motor Yachts. The modified deep V hull design gives the vessel operator the best performance available between a motor yacht and a trawler. The vessel gets up on plane while in a light load condition at approximately 18 knots. At cruising speed, the vessels performs similar to a trawlers displacement hull.

The “Spirit of Houston’s” Detroit Diesel 6V92 engines and modified Deep V hull design provides a dry, smooth and comfortable ride with a top speed of 23 knots. However, she likes to be cruised at 8 to 10 knots trawler speeds with fuel burn from both engines a less than 12 GPH.

Some of “Spirit of Houston IV” outstanding features include; large main salon, walk around beds in the VIP and main stateroom, large stand-alone showers,12- KW Northern Lights generator, large Galley with an accessible full size refrigerator, stove and dishwasher, and new Garmin radar.

Over the past three years, the vessel has been well maintained. The second owner has spent in excess of six figures on a major refit of components and upgrades. She is absolutely ready for that great loop or Bahamas cruise.

Vessel Walkthrough

Aft Deck/Cockpit Swim Platform and Davit System:

Starting aft, the President 54.5 features a large fiberglass aft-deck/cockpit. From here, a transom door leads into the swim platform and folding swim ladder. The aft cockpit is large for this size of vessel leaving plenty of room for diving, fishing equipment and even motorcycle storage. There is a hot cold fresh water shower located on the port side of the cockpit, located beneath the cockpit is a huge lazarette beneath that provides easy access to the ship’s 12 - KW Northern Lights generator and other equipment as well as a large area for storage. A large window with sliding glass door gives the master stateroom plenty of natural light. A stairway from the cockpit through this sliding glass doors gives an easy access to the sundeck. There is a snap on Sunbrella awning that gives the master state room privacy and reduced sunrays.
