The Prout 46, a luxury catamaran that has been designed and
engineered for long distance, short handed cruising. It is an elegant design that can be sailed with a minimum of fuss by a couple or family. The mast is at the forward end of the cockpit so no need to go forward to work at the mast. The hull benefits from the years of experience gained by its production team at Prout Brothers. The mast has backstays, double spreaders, and double side stays.

Why do we like it?
This is a solid boat, well able to handle the weather and sea condition that it will face while world cruising. Designed and equipped for a short handed 'family' crew it is strong, robust and reliable with comfort built in for extended periods aboard. The systems aboard are all designed to be simple and maintained while an owner is cruising.  
This boat was commissioned by the current seller and has been in his possession since 1999. In that time he has sailed it over 16,000 sea miles and spent some 600 nights aboard attesting to its seaworthiness and habitability. His tenure has been sufficiently long that he has had time to upgrade things that he found deficient in design or materials, such as the acrylic windscreens in the saloon that frosted over/crazed and were soon replaced by Triplex or quality polycarbonate.. Or the engines and main anchoring systems that he found lacking and upgraded some 10 years ago.
