DESCRIPTION

Escorpion was designed by the famous Germán Frers Sr and built in Argentina in 1943. She is an extremely capable classic yacht, both as a comfortable cruising yacht having seen the globe in her circumnavigation with her previous owner and on the race course at any classic regatta.

Currently Escorpion is set up for family cruising and is able to sleep six comfortably in three cabins. The interior is well loved and mostly original, giving it a period feeling. There is an extensive inventory included in her sale and this will allow the next owner to go and enjoy her as the previous owners have.

A well built, charming and capable classic yacht which is lying in Barcelona.

History

Escoprion was designed by the renowned and legend yacht designer Germán Frers Sr in 1943 and built in the Argentinan yard of Gòmez Y Gutierrez. It is without question that Germán Sr was an extremely important part of yacht design in the early 1900s having been a part of designing some 600 yachts. The Germán Frers Office is still practising and is now run by the 3rd generation of the Frers family.

Originally launched as Huaglen, Escoprion spent several years with her original owner until being sold and taken to Spain where she took part in regattas in the Balearics Islands. In 1963 she was sold to her 3rd owner who continued to cruise and race her in the Mediterranean under a new name of Caroulus II.

It was in 1968 that Escorpion was given her current name by the then owner Jose Padro, who went on to own her for 24 years. During that period they did a full Round the World cruise.. It was during this world cruise the current longstanding owner first fell in love with Escoprion.

In 1992 the current owner purchased Escorpion. During this ownership the family have enjoyed many hours of cruising around the Mediterranean and have taken part in several regattas included Regatta Royales and Les Voiles de Saint Tropez. In 2002 they crossed the Atlantic and took part in Antigua Classic Regatta, thus returning to Spain where she has remained ever since.
