Victoria – FIN 76 was designed by Johan Anker and built at his yard Anker & Jensen in 1933. She has spent much of her life in Norway, but was put back to racing trim in 2003 at the Elephant Boatyard and has been seen racing since.
In 2014 Victoria was subject of a restoration which took place in Finland for her current owner. This saw her having a ring frame fitted around the mast, broken ribs replaced, considerable work done below the waterline and her deck equipment updated.
Victoria comes with number of racing and cruising sails, along with equipment which makes her race ready. She is an extremely robust and fast in strong winds.
She is currently lying in Helsinki, Finland ready for her next chapter.
History
Victoria is another beautiful 6 Metre from Johan Anker, designed and built at Anker & Jensen in 1933. Johan is most famous for his design of the International Dragon Class, however he designed a number of 6 Metres. Before designing Victoria (ex Una IV) he had already designed and built his own 6 Metre, ABU in 1930 in which he was successful.
Victoria (Una IV) was built for Rolf Svinndal in Oslo, she was the second 6 to be built and deigned by Johan in 1933. Rolf commissioned the build of Una IV to take part in the 50th anniversary of the KNS regatta in 1933. He wanted a beautiful yacht which would turn heads and that just what Johan designed and built.
1935 until 2003 Victoria was based in Norwegian waters, changing hands a number of times and having many different names. In 2003 Victoria was purchased by Argentinian, Martin Belvisi, and shipped back to the Elephant Boatyard in the UK and had a refit undertaken to get her back into racing trim.
Victoria then took part in the 6 Metre regattas in the UK, including the Worlds in 2007 where she placed 15th in the classic fleet. Notably she was helmed by Tim Street in the 2007 British Opens.
2014 saw Victoria purchased by her current owner and transported to Finland where a 2 year restoration was undertaken at Janne Pettersson’s boatyard (this is where yearly maintenance work has also been undertaken). During this restoration all structural parts were checked and replaced where necessary to ensure that Victoria could take the loads under sail. New stainless ring frame fitted around the mast, along with all broken ribs replaced.
In the current ownership Victoria has taken part in Finnish regattas every summer and in the Worlds which took place in Finland in 2019. A much admired 6 Metre from Johan Anker.
