This sloop is rigged for racing and cruising with lots of extras. In essence, what you get in the Catalina 38 is a fast-performance boat whose interior was designed for cruising - the perfect combination. The design of the Catalina 38 was originally developed by Catalina Yachts for a 1980 design competition sponsored by the Long Beach (New York) Yacht Club which was seeking a replacement for the aging Cal 40 for the one-design Congressional Cup Race. Beautiful and fast, the IOR-influenced design of the Catalina 38 was selected. Inside the Catalina 38, you have a forward v-berth cabin, an enclosed head, a dinette that converts to a berth, a settee, a nav station, a galley, and a quarter berth, which is plenty for a family or an offshore crew to sleep and eat comfortably. This owner has done extensive R&R to the vessel over the last 2 years, totaling almost $20K in investment. The highlights are included here. On the exterior, there has been new ablative bottom paint, a new boot stripe, and new lifelines. There is also a new mainsail SailPack, a new bimini top, and windows (4 large, tinted). Some of the running riggings have been updated, the brightwork has been refinished, and the boat has been waxed. A new AC/DC electrical panel has been added and almost all DC wiring has been replaced. New navigation lights, a new fuel tank sensor, a Marinco Day/Night Solar Vent, and a Balmar Duo Charger 12V regulator have been added. A new NMEA 2000 network backbone has been added with a Garmin gWind transducer with GND 10 black box, Garmin GNX Wind marine instrument - 4" display, Garmin GMI 20 - 4" display, Garmin GNX 20 x 2 - 4" display, and a Airmar DST810 thru-hull smart transducer. A new Standard Horizon GX1850 Fixed Mount VHF with NMEA 2000 GPS Antenna has been added as well. Plumbing has been replaced with PEX and a new freshwater pump has been added. A new Jabsco Electric Marine Toilet has been added as well. The Universal M-35 diesel engine had the head professionally rebuilt, the injector pump and 4 injectors professionally rebuilt, a new starter, a new 105A Leece Neville alternator, a new exhaust riser, and new paint. There is also a new PRM90 transmission PRM90, a new transmission drive plate, and a new propeller shaft coupling.
