DESCRIPTION

"Drumochter" is a nice example of the Tradewind 35 and has just been polished, antifouled and valeted inside ready for the season. The wind-vane self-steering which works well on longer offshore cruises is a fantastic addition to this Tradewind 35, The term "Blue Water Yacht" is often used, but this is the genuine article. Such is her build quality and seaworthiness the model has been used by some yachtsmen competing in the single handed Golden Globe race over the years. Beautifully crafted interior woodwork, companionable cockpit ideal for solo or short handed sailing, plentiful storage for long term cruising and reliability from the inboard Yanmar diesel. Cutter rigged sail plan with deck stepped spars. Sail wardrobe is by Hood and includes a battened main, furling genoa, furling yankee and a staysail.

Mechanical

Vessel is powered by an economical yet reliable Yanmar 3GM30F inboard diesel engine with reduction gearbox driving a stainless steel shaft with bronze 3-bladed propeller. The propeller and shaft are protected by a keel mounted rudder and further protection is offered by the Ambassador rope cutter.

The engine is situated below the companionway steps and can be fully accessed for daily checks or servicing. Engine oil was changed prior to lift out. The engine will require new filters when launched. Engine control panel with key start in saloon next to the 12V switch panel at the chart table.

Bank of 3x12V domestic batteries and a single 12V engine start battery. These are fitted with a rotary style selector switch and recharged via engine alternator or the onboard battery charger shore power unit.

Rigging

Cutter rigged yacht with deck stepped aluminium spars and boom. Mast is currently removed and stored in the marina mast rack which will allowe the surveyor full access for inspection. Stainless steel standing rigging. Terylene running rigging which is in a variety of conditions. A trip through the washing machine will make it cleaner and clearer as to what if anything needs replacing.

Sails are in a serviceable condition and include a battened main, furling genoa, furling yankee and a staysail. A trip to the sail loft for a launder and check over is always recommended but there is no reason why they wont provide many more years service.
