Owners Comments
Running out of the epic Haslar Marina, this syndicate offers a park car, walk down dock, on the Solent in 5, on a professionally-maintained fully-spoodled rocket ship at 1/3 the cost.
Way ahead of its time, this German-built quality fast-cruiser is set up for rapid ,safe, short-handed sailing with electric winches, self tacking jib, ball bearing cars on a fully battened main, stackpack ,remote anchor, cockpit reefing, with all controls led back to the cockpit for ultimate ease and safety.
With little fingers around we didn't want to be winding and releasing sheets on and off winches and the self tacker does all the work, with the crew just staying asleep/ reading etc not having to even move.
Radar, AIS, plotters, liferafts make cross channel easy and Eberspacher, shore power, microwave, hot water etc offer year round sailing.
Three doubles +, 2 separate showers/heads, large tankage, electric remote windlass, swim platform, hot deck showers, music system set up for happy days with family/ guests swimming and SUPs / windsurfers at anchor after a days fast sailing. The record is 12 teenagers simultaneously hitting the water, side diving off the deck and 6 minutes 32 seconds surfing the stern wave. There are days in the Solent you wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
Outpaces all but dedicateds race boats of similar size and we've raced her occasionally off 0.997 no kite. There's a barely used cruising chute on a snuffer if you want to go another couple of knots quicker. She's been poster boat for Cowes Week with 8 Austin Powers aboard.and holds her own.
The boat runs on a 3 person very laid-back syndicate with 2 other City / Professionals and time in syndicate of 10 and 19 years, with every job professionally done so that the boat is constantly at 100% ready for the next user. In our 10 years we've never had a diary clash and she is lightly used only.
We all contribute about £230 pcm and there's usually another c1-1.5k at the end of the year for lifts , antifoul , refurbs etc which has just been done . In the last year she's had new liferaft, dinghy, outboard, wifi AIS, stackpack, jib and is totally ready to go.
If you're the kind of person who wants written contracts, allocated weeks and antifouling parties, this probably isn't the syndicate for you. Average number of emails per year is normally about 6.
If you want effortless fast sailing on a big offshore-capable yacht that will bring years of epic family holidays and St Vaast Champagne runs with the boys and that will cost less than chartering a Sunsail for a week, this is the boat for you.
Birds fled nest, so moving onto new pastures.
