Owners Additional Comments

Owners Comments:

We have improved Sea Topaz considerably over our time, from the initial investment in such as the bow thruster right through to the new paint, new teak decks, upholstery and carpets as we speak.
For those who might be interested, she is a lovely boat to live on, probably best shown by having only 2 owners in her 29 years. She is built for comfort rather than speed but is an excellent sea boat. Having said that, we completed the ARC in 18 days plus some hours at an average speed of 6.7 knots and similarly on our crossing from Galapagos to Marquesas, our time of 21 days gave us an average of 6.5 knots.
Although I am sure the comment makes Brokers laugh; but she really is ready to sail away with everything for an ocean crossing or live aboard cruising. The only things that we will take will be my tools.

We have replaced many items and did consider replacing the sails. They are still very serviceable and are rather a personal item so we felt it better to leave them.

I suspect one area where people might raise their eyebrows is the hours on the Ford Lehman main engine. We had a full diagnostic service done in Deltaville in 2009 by a Lehman expert and the results were perfect. It is a simple, powerful non turbo engine that I believe will go on "forever" and I would not consider changing it. We do have a fair collection of spares to pass on and new spares are still available.
Our reason for selling is simple, we feel that we have done enough full time cruising and want to move onto responsible grand parenting.
