Built by G&A Waddell Boatbuilders of Sandbank, Argyll. Probably built in the 1950’s or 1960’s, exact date unknown. The Waddell brothers had a yard building smaller boats and ran a ferry service across the mouth of the Loch, they evidently had an eye for a pretty boat with the nice sheer line, slight tumblehome on the transom and elegant proportions of this dinghy.

The current owner is based in Argyll where, following a professional overhaul by Crinan Boatyard and the addition of a new Yamaha long shaft 2.5 hp outboard engine, “Jove 11” has been used for exploring inshore in the sea around Crinan and fishing expeditions along the coast.

Construction

Clinker planked in larch all copper fastened to steam bent oak timbers. Mahogany sheer strake

Hull finished inside and out with varnish, recent professional overhaul by Crinan Boatyard.

Oak stem and keel with mahogany transom. Possible to mount an outboard on the transom if required.

Varnished mahogany thwarts with oak hanging knees.

Varnished oak sole boards in sections to enable them to be easily lifted.

Adjustable foot stretcher for each rowing position.
