The brand new Cormate Chase 34 from Hydrodesign in Norway is something really special. Available in sterndrive or outboard power configurations, the cabin sleeps two and features a separate wet room. There is seating on deck for 12, a wet bar, and a cook station, along with a full canopy and Bimini.
OverviewThe Chase 34 is a completely new and revolutionary boat concept inspired by the car industry. Fifteen years ago, our typical customers drove luxury sedans, but this has shifted towards more user-friendly and sporty high-performance SUVs, such as the Range Rover and Porsche Cayenne. However, there was no equivalent in the boating industry.
Customers can choose between a fast ocean-going RIB with excellent rough-sea capacity or the comfort and quality of a high-quality Day Cruiser. Yet, the high-performance RIB is often too basic for family use, while many Day Cruisers lack the performance and sporty feel desired. Cormate aims to eliminate this dilemma by creating a high-performance SUV for the water, combining the best features of both types.
ConstructionThe hull utilizes advanced Monostep technology, with a length/width ratio inspired by ocean-going offshore racers from the 60s and 70s. These races were dominated by Ray Hunt and Don Aronow hulls, which had a deadrise of 24-25 degrees and a 4:1 length/width hull ratio. This ratio provides an excellent balance between high speeds in various water conditions and a safe hull with sufficient hydrodynamic bow lift and buoyancy for tough ocean racing.
A 4:1 hull ratio is considered extreme by today's standards, and few boats of Chase 34's size have this high ratio. While this typically results in less usable cockpit volume, the Chase 34 cleverly maximizes every centimeter of width, offering comparable or superior inside cockpit volume to many competitors. The outside width is only 255 cm (263 cm with heavy-duty rub rail), making the Chase 34 easily trailerable and transportable in an open side container. The narrow beam, combined with vinylester, unidirectional fiberglass, high-quality core materials, and infusion technology, results in a boat that is extremely rigid, strong, and light. The hull's design, with a 24.5-degree deadrise and 4:1 hull ratio, allows the Chase 34 to cut through large waves smoothly, avoiding discomfort from slamming. The reverse rake windshield enhances wind and weather protection, especially when driving half-standing in the offshore seats, while also increasing cockpit volume and improving visibility in rain.
These construction parameters make this boat very suitable as a chase boat for the Superyacht market.
PerformanceThanks to its efficient and advanced stepped hull and low weight, the Chase 34 boasts exceptionally low fuel consumption and high top speed. With a single Mercury 370 hp TDI V8 diesel engine, it can reach 46 knots, with a fuel consumption of only 1.15 l/nm at best cruising speed. With 2 x Mercury High Performance 540 engines, the top speed is calculated to be 80 knots.
EquipmentStandard equipment includes:
To save weight, there is no separate water heater, but electronically controlled/selected water temperature is available.
