DESCRIPTION

Boat Overview

Pommery was built in the late 1960’s by Simms of Eel Pie Island. She was specifically designed as an Umpire Boat for Rowing Regattas and has also served briefly as a tripping boat. This vessel is ideal as a large family launch or for non-tidal commercial operators.

As a private purchase, Pommery offers the facility of a great family day boat.

Detailed Information

Pommery has been in the care of Chas Newens Marine Co for approximately 30 years. During this time, she has been utilized for day trips along the River Thames, particularly at the Henley Royal Regatta and the Annual Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race. Currently, Pommery is still in use at the Henley Royal Regatta, transporting guests to and from Temple Island to watch the racing. Although she no longer umpired at the Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race, she remains active on the Thames and is used annually by the Henley Women's Regatta and Reading Town Regatta as an umpire boat and for carrying supporters.

Engine Information

Pommery has had 3 engines over the years. Her recent re-engine is a Petrol Mercruiser 3.0 litre 145hp straight 4.

Ownership and Usage

The current owners are sad to see her go, but new rules dictate that only a private owner can use her anywhere on the Thames, preventing her from remaining in their fleet. However, charter opportunities are available, allowing the cost of ownership to provide tremendous benefits on non-tidal waterways.

Conclusion

We are looking forward to helping a new owner take control of this very beautiful launch.
