Summary

The Cheverton 33, formerly known as the Micronette, was designed and built by the renowned Britsh designer, David Cheverton. Following an extensive 18-month refit which began in 2013, Crazy Diamond has since been cruising around the West Coast of Scotland. Her specification includes a Beta 25 marine diesel engine from 2013, a hardwired shore power system, a wind generator from 2021, Eberspacher heating system from 2015, fridge from 2014, and new batteries from 2021. Her interior offers the traditional wooden yacht interior construction with furniture units in varnished hardwood and hull sides and deckheads painted out in white. This unique yacht is available for viewing in Arisiag or nearby.

English

David Cheverton served as an apprentice under the revered designer Uffa Fox at the Medina Yard on the Isle of Wight before starting his own company with two parnters, based at West Medina Mills on the banks of the Medina river. This partnership was responsible for many popular designs ranging from the award winning 23ft sailing sloop ‘Caravel’ through to the 60’ ketch ‘Bondicar’. Along side designing yachts for building in house they also produced designs for other private individuals and yards to build. Yachts were primarily built using kiln dried African Mahogany using a strip planking method.

Designed and built as MICRONETTE, later renamed CRAZY DIAMOND the Cheverton 33 was produced for John Brittan and Desmond Norman, known for their aircraft production company Brittan Norman. Built by R.J. Clarke on the Isle of Wight the design was a modern take on the traditional timber built yachts of the era with her fuller beam carried aft and reverse rake transom. Proving to be a successful design the yacht was a trailist for the 1964 Admirals Cup team.

Re-named CRAZY DIAMOND the Cheverton 33 has benefitted from extensive re-building in the current ownership. With her systems upgraded and modernised as part of the re-fit she has provided the owners with much enjoyment since her relaunch in 2015. Now reluctantly offered for sale she is offered with an inventory which includes:

2013-15 refit, including re-wiring, re-plumbing and installation of all new hardware.
