Kyrenia was constructed as Kyrenia of Brundall in 1961 at the venerable yard of Broom boats in Brundall. This particular design was known as the Broom Robb and was a popular family cruiser with two generous berths in the saloon and a fold out double in the cockpit.
This particular boat was subject to a rebuild by its previous owners Jan and Mike Stanton who are known to many as the voice of the Traditional Boat Festival. When they moved away from the Thames Valley they sadly had to part with Kyrenia and were lucky to find worthy custodians in the current owners. This is an easy boat with which to fall in love with a truly comfortable and practical interior including a full height heads on the port side adjacent to the galley which straddles the companion way.
Constructed of mahogany and iroko on oak with a contemporary 37 hp Nanni diesel replacing the original engine there is little to add to this delightful cruiser which is a member of the Thames Vintage Boat Club as witnessed by the burgee on the removable mast. In fact the mast and the windscreen fold to enable the passage of low bridges including Osney bridge in Oxford and others on the Broads. The owner tells me that she is easy to manoeuver and very sociable in the cockpit which has a folding canopy to give you a mediterranean feel when the sun is out, combined with all weather protection when rain threatens. I noticed lots of storage space on board including a capacious locker under the bow deck.
The boat is moored on the mid Thames near Henley where a mooring may be available although this is by separate negotiation with the marina management. Kyrenia has a current BSS certificate and EA licence.
