Interior Features
The Broom Ocean 42 is renowned for its build quality and sea-keeping abilities. There are few boats of this size that have such generous accommodation. The interior is finished in beautiful classic walnut with extensive storage in all cabins.
The newly-upholstered saloon offers very comfortable L-shaped seating and an additional tub chair in matching upholstery. The saloon has also just been fitted with venetian blinds in August 2021.
- All light bulbs replaced with warm white or cool white LEDs.
- Remotely operated LED mood lights fitted to cabins.
- A drop-leaf table converts to a coffee table when preferred.
- A range of cupboards with attractive panelled doors includes bookcases, TV/DVD housing with 3000W inverter, and a separate cocktail cabinet.
- To port, there is an internal steering position with full instrumentation.
Galley and Accommodations
On the starboard side, two steps lead down to the galley, which is fully fitted with an electric combination microwave and oven, gas oven and grill, as well as a 2-ring ceramic electric hob and a 2-burner gas hob.
The full-size fridge/freezer is supported by 240v and 24v power via a 3000 watt inverter.
To port side of the saloon are steps leading down to a short passage giving access to the spacious master cabin, with ensuite heads and shower with recent Mira shower tap upgrades. There is extensive drawer and hanging space, including 2 dressing tables and 2 wardrobes, and a full-size double island bed with reading lights above.
Fwd of the saloon are steps leading down to the companionway with a newly appointed (2020) double berth with dressing table, wardrobe, and plenty of storage.
This cabin has grey fabric faced wall panelling with Kingspan insulation together with a quality brand new bespoke double mattress with removable cover.
Separate heads and a spacious shower room are also found in the fwd berth.
Adjacent to the bathroom door in the fwd cabin is a locker which houses a washing machine and spin dryer.
Remotely operated mood lighting to both fwd and aft cabin.
24v plug sockets, some with USB sockets, have been added to fwd and aft cabin. TV has been fitted on anchor locker door.
Navigation and Flybridge
To the starboard side of the companionway is a large lift-up chart table in walnut to match the rest of the boat's upgraded wall panelling with drawers beneath. This area also houses the 24v/240v power trip system.
Both showers have new shower curtains fitted.
The flybridge is accessed from the saloon and provides a fully covered twin helmsman positions with newly upholstered helm and navigation seats (sliding) plus additional newly upholstered bench seats all in a waterproof easy clean fabric.
Storage is available beneath both the helmsman's seats and the additional seating to starboard.
There is full instrumentation and a large chart table.
Recently, 3 screen demisters were fitted to the aft deck windscreen.
Navigation Equipment
Navigation equipment includes a large Ray Marine hybrid touch-screen chart plotter with Raymarine radar and VHF fixed radio, all fitted in 2016.
Deck Features
On deck, there are heavy-duty stainless steel stanchions and fender baskets. The wooden handrails on deck have been replaced with stainless steel top rails and additional bespoke stainless steel steps and ladders have been added to make getting on and off far easier.
The anchor and chain have been upgraded.
On the stern, there are manual Simpson Lawrence stainless steel davits with a 2.9m 2-seater RIB with air deck and 4hp 2-stroke Mercury outboard.
Overall Condition
Overall, this boat is probably the best example of a Broom Ocean 42 currently on the market. A fantastic example of the fabulous Ocean 42 built by Aquafibre (apparently much higher quality hull build than later Broom built hulls) and fitted out by Broom to a much higher than normal standard and which has been lovingly maintained under her previous and current ownership. We have lots of service documentation going back to 2004.
