EA is a remarkable classic race/cruiser yacht, designed in 1952 and launched in 1953 at the Baglietto Shipyard in Italy.

She dominated the race scene during her early years and most recently has come back to go onto win a number of classic regattas in the Mediterranean, just as at home as when she is cruising with friends and family.

In 2006 EA was the subject of an extensive rebuild which saw all necessary replacements being made including; new keel bolts, deck frames and deck, and a whole new interior – no plank was left unturned during the rebuild at Sibma Navale, in Italy.

EA is presented in wonderful turnkey condition, whether its cruising or racing which gets you going she is ready for either.

History

Baglietto Shipyard is one of the oldest shipyards in the world, with over 162 years of ship/yacht building under its belt. Vincenzo Vittoria Baglietto was a very important part of the Baglietto family, his father Pietro was most famous for launching the largest combustion engine yacht evening in Italy.

Vittoria graduated BSc from the University of Glasgow in 1921, at the time one of the World’s leading universities in marine engineering. This was not the straightforward studies that Vittoria expected as 4 years into his studies had to return to Italy to serve in the Italian Air Force in World War I. During the War years the Baglietto shipyard changed from primarily designing and building pleasure craft to being commissioned by the Italian Navy to supply anti-submarine motorboats (MAS) which happened to be designed by Vittoria himself. In 1919 Vittoria returned to Glasgow to finish his studies and in 1921 graduated.

On his return to Italy Vittoria concentrated on his love of designing and building fast racing vessels and in 1950 he designed Miranda IV which followed the same lines as the famous designer Jack Laurent Giles.

EA shortly followed in 1953 (name was the initials of her first owner's daughter). EA quickly became a class winning race yacht of her era, winning Class I RORC. Giraglia Race four time – without question one of the most important races in Mediterranean until the 1970s. In the 1960s EA vanished from Mediterranean waters and it wouldn’t be seen until a decade later when she reappeared on the French Atlantic Coast.

Fast forward to 2006, EA was purchased at an Auction Near La Rochelle and taken by truck to the remarkable craftsman of Sibma Navale in Imperia where a meticulous restoration started and took nearly 2 years.

EA’s deck, keel and interiors were removed so that the yard could start from the beginning, everything that needed replacing was replaced, new keel bolts, mast strengthening was added and what rolled out of the shed in 2008 was something very special.

EA went onto race and win local Regattas which included winning 5 Panerai trophies. She is a true race yacht with elegant lines but also a very practical and comfortable cruising yacht.
