Virginia Rose is a classic Sabre 36 which combines classic good looks with contemporary styling and performance. The low-profile cabin and the reverse transom make this Sabre a lively cruiser-racer. Designed by Roger Hewson, and built by Sabre Yachts of Casco, Maine, Virginia Rose has a beautiful Flag Green hull. Sabre's are known for their inviting interiors of teak, excellent sailing abilities and comfortable cockpits. She has self-tailing winches, rod rigging, Bimini and dodger, roller furling jib, full batten main and a swing keel/centerboard. This design’s ability for shoal draft, with centerboard up, is ideal for cruising inland waters and when her centerboard/swing keel is down for making coastal/ocean passage.
Her low-profile cabin and reverse transom make this Sabre highly regarded for her design and speed. Virginia Rose is a 1985 model with a new (2019) Yanmar 32 hp diesel engine. She has had replacement/upgrades that should provide for years of future enjoyment. Key replacement/upgrade items include mast re-step, bottom bead-blasted and new barrier coat, bright work varnished, buffed / waxed, head replaced, water heater replaced, LED lighting, Bimini / dodger replacement, and roller furling (foresail/jib) just serviced.
Starting In the bow is the master cabin with a V-berth with filler cushion that forms a large double. There are hanging lockers and storage compartments. Next aft is the private head with an electric marine toilet, vanity with sink, stowage under and outboard, Hot, and cold pressure water and a shower. Opposite the head are two large hanging lockers. Next aft is the main salon. This has a dinette to port that pulls out to form a double berth. On the bulkhead is a dining table with wings that pulls down and unfolds. Across to starboard is a single settee that forms a single berth. There is ample storage outboard and under both berths. Next aft to port is the fully equipped galley. Opposite to starboard is the sit-down chart table with room for electronics and electrical gear storage under the plotting surface. Aft of this is a large quarter berth. The cabin sole is varnished teak.
