Owner's Comments

I have sailed all my life, starting with dinghies in Jersey and Frensham Pond. Previous boats include a Trapper 300, Sigma 33 and after a spell "ashore" a Starlight 35.

By chance we had an X-412 alongside in Carteret which I admired and discussed with her enthusiastic owner. Having sent for the brochure it was not long before we had out X-40 on order for delivery in April 2005.

We have loved our X-40 over 12 seasons, revelling in her ability to sail to windward, to sail in light airs when others are motoring and to cope easily with strong winds and rather rough seas. We have also found her very comfortable down below.

She is a real sailor's boat and responds to trimming and tweaking. Our passage times never cease to amaze me.

Based in Jersey we have enjoyed many visits to the adjacent French coast of France, participated in some local races and sailed to the Solant on a regular basis. We have also taken our summer holidays on board more often than not to West Brittany. Over the last 12 years we have logged 15,800 nm. We are attracted to the modern look of the new X4, but found it really hard to sell our X-40. We will be very sorry to se her go, and hope that we won't miss her too much.
