DESCRIPTION

The Westerly Centaur is a traditionally styled family cruiser designed by Laurent Giles. They have good accommodation and moderate draft, making them ideal for the shallow waters of the East Coast and beyond. Over recent years 'Swift' has had a full osmosis treatment, a replacement engine, new interior linings and upholstery and much more. Presented in very good condition she is ready and waiting for her next owners.

Accommodation

Layout B specification: The accommodation offers up to six berths in two cabins. In the forecabin, V berth with infill and stowage under. Opening hatch to foredeck. Full width heads comp[artment with marine toilet and hanging locker opposite. In saloon, L shaped dinette to port, converting to double berth, with galley opposite. Two burner gimballed gas cooker with grill (new). Sink/drainer with manually pumped water supply. Saloon table. Quarter berths to port and starboard. Waeco 12v portable fridge (new 2019).

Mechanical Systems

Located behind the companionway, Volvo MD2002 twin cylinder 18hp diesel engine. The engine was fitted in 2013 as a replacement secondhand unit. Electric start. Direct seawater cooled. Shaft drive to three bladed propeller. Single lever control.

Last serviced in July 2019, the engine has proved reliable under present ownership.

Electrical Systems

2 x 12v batteries (new 2018) charged via engine alternator. Electrical distribution panel. Full cabin lighting.

Spars and Sails

Masthead rigged sloop. Re-sprayed aluminium mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging. Terylene running rigging (new 2013). Slab reefing mainsail with lazyjacks. Rotostay headsail furling system. Two sheet winches. Two halyard winches.

Construction

Built in 1977 by Westerly Marine Construction to a design by Laurent Giles. White GRP hull. Teak rubbing strakes. White GRP superstructure with painted non-slip to deck. Twin keels. Skeg hung rudder. Tiller steering. Aft self draining cockpit. New cockpit floor grating 2019). Full osmosis treatment 2005. New upholstery and carpets, headlinings, cooker, mast resprayed, deck repainted, new cockpit slats in 2015. Seacocks serviced 2019.
