One of a kind Wellington 30! Immaculate! Spacious interior with plenty of storage! Loaded and ready to fish or cruise! Sailors may know the Wellington name as a Jacksonville-based builder of pilothouse and raised salon sailboats. After many years in business, Mr. Wellington retired in 2014 and closed the doors of the company. Before all of the workers were gone he worked with them to build a custom boat - this Wellington 30 launch - a one-of-a-kind vessel just for his use in retirement. The design incorporates many attributes of a pilothouse or Downeast style vessel and has many performance and safety features not often found in production vessels. The Wellington 30 is fully fiberglass. The only wood in the boat are a couple of 2x4's and a piece of plywood that the seller put in to lower the helm seat (Mr. Wellington was a very short man). The hull, stringers, decks, and upper structures are all fiberglass and foam core. The 140-gallon fuel cell is located along the centerline under the cockpit with watertight floatation compartments along each side. These compartments are vented to the gunwales. This construction has made for a very light and nimble vessel. Electrical systems are energized by a pair of engine batteries in the transom and a massive 8D AGM house battery located under the cabin floor in the V-berth. These batteries can be tied together or separated as needed. A 30-amp shore power outlet provides electricity at the dock. The boat draws somewhere between 12 and 18 inches sitting still, but the strakes running almost the entire length of the bow push this boat up on plane quickly to where it only draws 8-10 inches underway. Getting so much boat out of the water also means that it will cruise at 22kts at 75% power and will get to around 25kts at WOT. The Wellington 30 has a large open cockpit aft that incorporates eight rod holders and a large livewell tank. A 110V AC outlet is against the back wall of the cabin. In the middle stern is the engine compartment housing the Yanmar 150hp diesel engine. Forward is the large cabin featuring the helm, couches, sink, and a forward V-berth and head. The seller has installed a roof-mounted air conditioner to cool the cabin at the dock. A portable gasoline generator could also power this air conditioner. The helm is fully instrumented and features a 7" Lowrance GPS/Plotter/Fishfinder and VHF radio. The inboard/outboard Yanmar diesel engine is a somewhat unique installation. It is a 150hp 4-cylinder freshwater cooled turbodiesel putting power to the water through a dual-prop Yanmar ZT350 outdrive. The Yanmar ZT350 is NOT a re-badged Bravo Three but an outdrive custom designed and manufactured by Yanmar to be paired with their exceptional line of marine diesel engines. This combined with the hull design features previously discussed make this a more than adequate powerplant for this big boat. This vessel is a unique design titled as a home built in Florida despite coming out of a boat factory and constructed by experienced boat builders. It does not have a hull ID number stamped into it as a production boat would. This is something to be aware of if moving the vessel out of Florida as local regulations may vary for this type of boat.
