The 62 Convertible is a blue-water showpiece in the Viking tradition, a legacy that spans more than 55 years. From bow to stern, the 62 Convertible is an overachiever in its class delivering contemporary styling, performance, extraordinary maneuverability and outstanding accommodations – all with the simple purpose to exceed your expectations. Whether your goal is a half-ton bluefin tuna or a vacation cruise with the family, the Viking 62 can do it all and so much more.
The 62 Convertible carries a powerful profile, with an unbroken sheer that sweeps gracefully from bow to stern. Nearly eight feet of freeboard at the bow along with a gentle foredeck crown is aesthetically pleasing while increasing the headroom in the forward stateroom.
Clean Machine The bi-level 172 square-foot cockpit is the result of thousands of hours on the tournament trail. Viking’s innovative raised observation mezzanine is designed to keep guests cool and dry (thanks to the flybridge overhang) as well as clear of the anglers and crew working in the cockpit. Lifting the hinged seat lids beneath the Sunbrella cushions exposes a freezer and engine room access. A lower level compartment stows gear, while tackle drawers are built into a molded console to starboard. A refrigerated drink box doubles as the salon entrance step. The cockpit is professionally outfitted with flush rod holders, fresh and raw- water wash down systems, a transom fish box, rounded coamings with indirect rope lighting below, side lockers for tag stick and gaff stowage, a quick disconnect fitting for oil changes (for the engines, transmissions and generator), port and starboard in-deck insulated fish and stowage boxes and stereo speakers. The lazarette is also prepped for the installation of a Seakeeper.
Enjoy the View. Prepare yourself when you take the wheel. The SeaStar Optimus Electronic Power Steering reacts at the touch of a finger and you will feel yourself become one with the boat at 40 knots. The flybridge’s walk-around center console helm delivers excellent visibility when operating the boat or monitoring navigation electronics and engine instruments. Three helm seats with teak ladder backs are standard. The low-profile center console with an available faux teak helm pod and single-lever controls also houses electronics in the raised dash. A pair of radio and accessory switch boxes flank the steering wheel. Additional instrumentation and electronics easily stow in available electrically operated drop-down boxes built into the fiberglass hardtop. Port and starboard lounges and an integrated console are comfortably upholstered and hold storage below. Forward, there is a top-loading freezer, a sink with a freshwater outlet and a refrigerated drink box.
Comfort Zone With nearly 19 feet of beam, the salon resembles a stately great room, lush with a high-gloss or satin walnut interior. Three distinct gathering spaces collectively frame the salon, dinette and galley areas, yet each flows into one another to maximize sociability and practicality. Excellent use of space can be seen with abundant stowage throughout the galley, which includes under-counter refrigeration. Tinted windows usher in natural light to illuminate the salon, while blinds provide shade for privacy after hours. Air conditioning flows discreetly from behind valances, complemented with decorative rope lighting. With the touch of a button, a 49-inch HD TV rises from the cabinetry.
Royalty Sleeps Here Relax in the midship master stateroom after a glorious day on the water. The walk-around queen bed with an upholstered headboard is plush with a Handcraft innerspring mattress that lifts to expose a cavernous storage compartment. Drawers built into the bed frame, his and her maple-lined hanging lockers, a four-drawer credenza, flanking end tables and a pair of utility lockers round out the diverse storage opportunities. An entertainment center features stereo speakers wired to the salon system and a 32-inch HD TV. The en-suite head includes a one-piece custom frameless shower door, fiberglass stall with satin nickel fixtures, linen stowage, medicine cabinet and vanity.
In addition to the master, the four-stateroom, three-head layout features a forward guest stateroom with walkaround queen bed, an aft guest stateroom to starboard with side-by-side berths, and a starboard crew stateroom with upper/lower bunks. Both starboard staterooms share the head directly off the companionway, adjacent to the washer and dryer. And each is appointed with a hanging locker and drawer stowage, air conditioning and heat controls and overhead LED lighting. First class for everyone!
Enclosed Bridge Equally proficient on the tournament circuit, the 62 Enclosed Bridge takes comfort to the next level with a climate-controlled helm station, reached via the staircase in the salon, as well as from the exterior ladder on the mezzanine level in the cockpit. The main helm is forward and includes a raised dash for electronics, engine controls and a top-mounted stainless-steel wheel. A Stidd helm chair is standard along with a port-side companion seat above the cabinetry. Abaft is an L-Shaped lounge on a raised platform with a mappa burl table. The enclosed bridge easily serves as a unique second salon with refrigeration, an entertainment system and a view that can’t be beat. The all-weather sliding door is lockable and leads to the aft deck, which contains a second set of controls for docking or fishing, and a comfortable seating area. The 62 EB also can be ordered with a custom fabricated tuna tower from Palm Beach Towers, a Viking subsidiary.
Hallmark Engineering our commitment to design and engineering shines brightest in the engine room. Snow White Awlgrip coats the engine room and bilge areas, hardware and sea strainers. A centralized seawater system minimizes hardware and plumbing, while utilizing a simplified manifold to provide continuous water flow to onboard systems. A 21.5 kW Onan QD genset is standard and onboard electrical systems are managed with touch-screen monitors and visual and audio alarms. A pair of Glendinning Cablemasters ease shore side connections. A Delta T engine room ventilation system with supply and discharge fans provides ample combustion air while suppressing water intrusion. The Delta T pneumatically controlled dampeners are integrated into the fire suppression system. Selecting Viking subsidiaries Atlantic Marine Electronics and Palm Beach Towers for your accessories not only allows you to customize your Viking 62, but also means you can enjoy the completeness and satisfaction of turnkey delivery.
The 62 Convertible can be powered with engine packages from Caterpillar, MAN or MTU. No matter the brand, she delivers great speed, acceleration and maneuverability. A pair of 12V2000 M96Ls (1,945 MHP) drives the 62 Convertible to a top speed of 42 knots.
