REDUCED - 1980 Trident Challenger 35

This Trident Challenger 35 designed by Angus Primrose is an excellent blue water cruising yacht a well-maintained yacht offering 6 berths in 2 cabins. Powered by a Beta Marine engine 2013, with updated electronics. Viewing highly recommended. A 2019:survey report is available upon request. 


Accommodation :
This Trident 35 offers 6 berths in 2 cabins with 6,2ft of headroom. The forward berth is a double V with good storage underneath and access to forward deck hatch. The Trident Challenger has a shower with teak grating over the shower pump and a freshwater capacity of 300L which is manually pressurised. A marine head that has a 30L holding tank capacity.  L-shaped galley with a stainless-steel sink, top loading fridge and a new gimballed Techimpex 2-burner oven and grill. The Saloon has 2 full-length settee berths and stowable folding table for extra room in the saloon. Aft port is the large chart table with access to batteries underneath. Behind the chart table is a quarter aft berth with good storage.

History & Construction

This Trident Challenger 35 has had 3 previous owners, 3 years with its current owner. Designed by Angus Primrose and built in 1980 by Trident Marine. The hull and deck colour are white GRP construction, as is the superstructure. The encapsulated keel is a traditional long and the rudder is keel hung. New engine fitted in 2013 and last serviced in 2022, by the owner. Last ashore where its anodes were changed and antifouled in 2020. Last surveyed in 2019.


Mechanical :

Mechanical System

The Trident 35 is powered by a Beta Marine 35HP engine from 2013 and only run for 590 hours. 4-cylinder diesel cooled indirectly, shaft driven with rope cutter and a 3-blade fixed folding propellor Wheel steering and also features a Vetus bow thruster and 100L fuel capacity in a single stainless-steel tank. The Trident 35 has a cruising speed of 6kn and a max speed of 8kn. Access to the engine is centre, under the saloon steps. The engine was last serviced by the owner in 2022. Last out of the water maintenance in 2020.

Electrical Systems

Fitted with 4 x 12v batteries, 1 domestic, 1 engine start from 2021, 1 anchor winch and 1 for the Vetus bow thruster, all charged via the alternator. The Trident’s 240-volt systems are shore power connection, ring mains and battery charger and inverter. Batteries are located under the chart table.

Sails & Spars

The Trident 35 is sloop rigged with an alloy mast and boom. The boom was replaced in 2002.  Deck step and stainless-steel standing rigging which was replaced in 2006. Manual backstay adjuster and running rigging replaced in 2020. Features slab mainsail reefing with lazy jacks and furling headsail.
