Excerpts From The Power Boat Guide:
“Tollycraft is regarded by many to be one of the finest West Coast Cruising Yachts ever produced. It combines classic styling and quality in a yacht of exceptional elegance. Over 105 boats were produced with the last hull delivered in 1998. Built on a solid Fiberglass semi-displacement hull with rounded chines and a long keel, the Tollycraft 48 is known for her superb seakeeping attributes. More recent models with the 375hp Cats will cruise at 15-18kts. Used Tollycraft 48s are always in demand.”
Orinoco is a remarkable example of an exceptionally well-maintained, late model Tolly 48. Orinoco’s top speed is over 20 knots and she averages a very efficient 2 mpg when operated at 9 mph.
Orinoco started her cruising life in the Puget Sound and was moved by freighter to Florida in 1999. Since 2005, she has been mostly in freshwater and wintered in the Great Lakes, the Mississippi at St. Louis and the Tombigbee at Columbus, Missouri. Previous owners cruised extensively on her, including completing the Great Loop, traveling to the Bahamas and crossing the Gulf of Mexico several times, repeatedly proving the hull and systems to be sea-kindly. In addition, many updates were done that give Orinoco unsurpassed comfort and livability while cruising, including adding an apartment-sized washer and dryer installed in a custom cabinet in the master cabin, dishwasher, water maker, satellite TV and more.
This special yacht is well worth investigating if you’re in the market for a stout, double cabin motor yacht with excellent seakeeping abilities. Orinoco offers a new owner beauty, extreme durability and comfort in an exceptionally well-maintained package, making her one of the best yacht values on the market today!

Broker’s Comments:
We seldom get a boat we can say, "It's ready for survey and should easily pass!" But this boat is as close to what it can be. The owners are done. The boat is offloaded and cleaned and detailed. The owners have gone thru all the systems and we in fact got pictures of it underway when it was run up to 20 knots. It's nice boat.
Tollycrafts are hard to find in the south, but crazy popular in the NW and West coast and for good reasons.
“Like New” and “Immaculate” are phrases so overused in yacht brokerage descriptions. But Orinoco is so well above an “Above Average” condition that I can honestly say she does not appear to be a 1996 model. Her owners have used her for her intended purpose - Voyaging! And in doing so, have put over 3000 of their own hours under the keel. If you want a boat that is proven, this boat has done it: The Loop. The Bahamas. The North West and the Mississippi River and she is ready to go again. But I can say the boat has been maintained superlatively in their tenure. I feel she will survey out more like a boat half her age.
The ongoing upgrades alone (see specs) are noteworthy, but the maintenance and maintenance records of all the systems, including religiously using only all Caterpillar parts and fluids, are another bonus and the diesels are just now fully broken-in and ready for years more service.
If you’re looking for a project, then look on, because this boat is ready to continue the voyage for the next owners with little to add but the groceries.
