DESCRIPTION

a mid century Thames Conservancy launch

Boat number 308 originally named Colne and built in 1958 for the Thames Conservancy as one of their inspection launches. Indeed Bushnells built a number of inspection launches including the much larger Windrush which is now owned by MDL and used for entertaining. Unlike some of the later boats this one has no engine box blocking access to the aft seating and has been a successful family owned boat for many years. In fact the low engine box astern of the helm serves as a table and the lloyd loom seating is removable so guests and helm can gather round the table when moored. She was rescued by the owners and restored in 2004/5 by Peter Freebody with an epoxy treatment being used for the rebuild of the triple diagonal cedar planked hull to add longevity. The hull is black with a varnished mahogany interior. The teak decks were recently revarnished and with a new BSS certificate she is now looking for a new owner to take her forward in the next decade.

The boat sports her original chrome builder's plate on the bow and is eligible for membership of the Thames Vintage Boat Club. She is suitable for 4 to 6 passengers and would make an elegant day boat for a private owner or a collector.

Secunda Fortuna has a trailer which is sold with the boat as well as a winter cover, a tonneau, cushions, fenders and ropes. Available for viewing at Beale Park boat store by appointment.

NB. The photo afloat was taken before the decks were varnished.
