Remarks :
1957 Bates Star Craft 40 £39,950
StarCraft wooden river cruisers were built by William Bates & Son in Chertsey, Surrey on the River Thames between 1946 and 1975. The boat builder aimed to produce an English built luxury motor cruiser to compete with Chris Craft. Initially, the hulls were built using double diagonal construction in mahogany, with teak decks and cabin sides with oak frames. This particular vessel has been modified at some stage to have a flybridge fitted.  Owned by the current owner since 2012 she has restored to her current condition including the removal and replacement of the complete upper structure,  re-wired, and both engines have been stripped and overhauled.

Accommodation :

This Bates StarCraft 40 offers six berths in three cabins.  The aft owners cabin has a double berth with storage beneath with two wardrobes and a sideboard cabinet storage. It is light and airy with some portholes. It has an ensuite head with marina toilet with a 200-litre holding tank and washbasin with hot and cold pressurised water.

Moving forward and up three steps you enter the saloon which again is very light and airy with large portholes. There is a large white leather settee to starboard which converts to a double berth and an oval table to port with four chairs. Moving forward and to Port is the Helmsman position with an array of navigation instruments. There is a large chart table to Port with storage beneath.

Moving forward and down to steps the galley is off-set to Port. It has Delonghi gas four burner cooker with oven, a 12v fridge and stainless steel sink. There is a lot of storage space.  Hot water is provided by an emersion heater.

Opposite the Galley is the second heads that has a marine sea toilet, shower and sink with hot and cold water and lots of storage.

The forward cabin has two more single berths and again because of the number of portholes is very light.  The accommodation has a very cosy lose light and airy feel which is enhanced by the large Eberspacher diesel cabin heating.

Outside it is easy to move around the decks which have vast areas to seat and steps up to the flybridge area.

This motorboat is only being sold as she is now too large for the owner to handle on his own due to his health.  She was last ashore in July 2017 when she was antifouled and anodes changed as well as a number of other jobs completed - receipts available.
