DESCRIPTION

For sale - 2011 Southerly 42RST

This one owner Southerly 42RST is extremely well set up for long distance cruising but would be equally at home coastal port hopping with family and friends.
Having the double headsail set up, she offers powerful windward performance from the furling genoa and also the ease of the self tacking jib. Off the breeze the 42RST can also fly a cruising chute/gennaker from her removable bowsprit.

With the much preferred three double cabin layout plus the benefit of a saloon conversion, this Southerly 42RST boasts very flexible accommodation below decks and comes with a comprehensive inventory including full and upgraded Raymarine nav equipment, bowthruster, heating, feathering propeller, Norths Sails wardrobe with fully battened slab reefing main plus much more.
Throw into the mix the hydraulically operated lift keel and at the touch of a button, a deep draft offshore cruiser becomes remarkable in the access it offers to shoal waters.
Available to view at short notice 7 days a week on her berth here at Mercury Yacht Harbour on the River Hamble.
On buying this Southerly 42RST through TBS Boats Hamble, discounted first year berthing deals are available (T&C's apply)

Build

Southerly 42RST built in 2011
Lift keel cruising yacht built by Northshore to the designs of Rob Humphreys & Stephen Jones
RCD Category A 'Ocean'

CONSTRUCTION
HULL - Heavy duty GRP moulding, hand laid up to Northshore’s Nordseal laminating system incorporating multi-axial and unidirectional reinforcements.
The keel box is an integral part of the hull lay-up and sandwich construction stiffening runs the entire length of the hull topsides.
All main bulkheads are bonded into the hull at main lay-up stage along with a stiffening grillage of transverse frames and longitudinal stringers.
The engine bearers are also an integral part of the hull structure.
Oxford blue gel coat with twin white style lines and red line at boot top
Northshore’s patented Nordseal anti- osmosis system
Clear gel coat below the waterline
DECK -  Hand laid up GRP with teak cockpit and side decks
Sandwich construction.
Heavily stressed areas are additionally reinforced with uni-directional glass reinforcement.
The deck is bonded to the hull through the entire length and to all main bulkheads resulting in a strong and integrated unit.
Teak capping rail to hull to deck joint upstand
Moulded non-slip finish

VARIABLE DRAFT
The fixed ballast is an iron casting which acts as a grounding plate and as transverse stiffening for the keel unit.
It is fitted into a recess in the hull in the area of the keel box with stainless steel bolts. The aerofoil keel is cast iron and incorporates a stainless steel pivot at the leading edge.
The keel is raised and lowered by a hydraulic ram powered by an electrically driven  pump with a hand operated back-up.
All hydraulics are easily accessible for maintenance.
Keel control and gauge showing keel position fitted at wheel pedestal
Removable stainless steel pin, positioned to enable the keel to be locked in the ‘up' position

STEERING
Semi-balanced twin rudders
Twin 30’’ stainless steel cockpit wheels
Whitlock Cobra system
Single lever engine control
