A tidy example of this lifting keel 5 berth sailing yacht. New Beta Marine 25hp engine fitted in 2008. Dual steering positions with interior wheel steering and a good sized cockpit with tiller steering. This boat was designed to take the ground and could be suitable for a drying mooring.
TheSoutherly 28 was the design which started the now renowned range of lifting keel cruisers from Southerly. Despite being designed in the 1970’s some of the features found in this little cruiser have carried on to the boats produced today. During a production run spanning 9 years up to 1984 a total of 148 Southerly 28’s were built before the larger Southerly 100 model started production.
With her lifting keel, and Southerly’s acknowledged ability to ‘float on a damp lawn’ a pilothouse design offering great accommodation within its compact dimensions. The Southerly 28offers a very flexible cruising ability for a boat of her modest size.
