Barney Boy is a great starter boat. Easy to steer, cheap to run and very reliable.
With a twin hob gas cooker for making tea and pot noodles, you have everything you need for a day on the river.
Barney Boy is moored at Hurley and costs £1300 pa, which is way cheaper than any other mooring facility. This is transferable to the new owner if required.
We've had Barney Boy for 8 years
In the first year we took him out for 4 months and completely overhauled the hull. Sand exterior back to fibre glass, undercoated with marine undercoat and then painted with marine grade white. Anti fouled.
Also the inside of the hull from the water line below was completely restored replacing tired stringers and repainting with marine paint.
He is completely dry and remains not only dry but sparkling clean under there. A rare treat.
Honda engine was serviced before we bought him and has been maintained by us. Last year, engine oil, leg oil, oil filter, impeller all replaced. While out exterior wood was re-oiled and railings repainted white and given a thoroughly good clean and wax.
