Rival 36 Mk II For Sale Introduction Rival 36 D MK II Bluewater Cutter to Lloyds 100 A + 1 by Southern Boatbuilding. Constructed 1991 with £75,000.00 refit completed in Aug 2016. The best Rival 36 on the market and as near a brand new vessel as could be found. VAT Paid with all original invoices. Equivalent new vessel some £250,000.00 today. Turn Key condition ready to cruise. Currently Lying in Mallorca: Asking £59,950.00 For further information telStored ashore from 2012 to 2016 with hull below waterline removed of all coatings to original white gelcoat. Full photo gallery on file showing the moulding in good condition and free from damage. Bronze Blakes seacocks, skin fittings and rudder were removed for inspection. Gelcoat was almost zero moisture content when the hull below waterline was lightly blasted to provide a key. All of the skin fitting apertures were sealed with epoxy prior to installing the seacocks, and new Bronze through hull fittings. MG Duff anode studs were repositioned from the original position and fitted against a backing plate in an improved position. The speed transducer was fitted to starboard. The depth transducer which was fitted on the centre line had the area reinforced and faired with high density filler using a mould plug for the depth transducer. The transducer was then fitted into the recess, making removal at a later stage possible without disturbing the fairing. The hull below waterline was coated with four applications of 3M epoxy barrier coat and a complete Coppercoat Antifouling system. Removal of the rudder allowed a complete application of coatings to the inside of the skeg, where coatings usually delaminate as there is no access. This also allowed inspection of the rudder stock, bronze heel fitting and bearing. The protective coatings extend above the waterline with a black boot top stripe. The topsides of the vessel are of original white gelcoat, which has been restored to an exceptional standard. The usual Rival rubbing strake moulding has been replaced with a teak rubbing strake from new. The rubbing strake and all teak plugs are sound. The deck moulding is of ivory pigmented gelcoat which again is in exceptional condition for its age. All gel coat surfaces have been compound polished and restored to a high gloss finish. The cockpit has teak capping on the coaming. The teak cap rail is sound with all teak plugs intact, this has also been refinished. Teak in the cockpit and coachroof has also been refinished. Teak deck was overhauled having been scraped longitudinally with the grain, all seams cut, new paying compound, replacement of isolated planks, and every single teak plug (over 900) in 2016. The anchor well has been refinished in ivory gelcoat in preparation for the fitting of the fully overhauled SL Seawolf 12 volt windlass. All wiring to the windlass is new, there is a 40 amp breaker at the panel and a footswitch on foredeck. The cockpit is fitted with the new design C & J textiles sprayhood and frame, along with a custom designed bimini which provides superb protection, dodgers and covers in beige, all new 2016. The cockpit has new cushions in a mushroom coloured fabric, and there are infill’s which bridge between the cockpit seats, so you can sleep in the cockpit. The Kemp silver anodised mast, boom and spinnaker pole had been removed for inspection and new 8 mm standing rigging, rigging screws and fittings. The mast has been stepped in the spring of 2016, with all new standing rigging, larger chromed bronze turnbuckles and a full inspection. While cutter rigged there is also a removable inner forestay which attaches at the stem head fitting. The Hood Seafurl was disassembled, inspected and found to be in good order. A new 8 mm stay and reefing line were fitted 2016. The cutter sail is fitted with a new Bamar COT furler 2016. The mast is fitted with a Visibal Radar Reflector, Navigation lights, anemometer and Hawk VHF antenna. All running rigging and sheets are new, all are otherwise in good order. With the exception of bonded bulkheads and fitted joinery, the interior of the vessel was attended to in order to fully restore her to original condition. All removable cabinetry was carefully removed for refinish, all fittings were carefully removed for cleaning and restoration. The entire teak interior of the vessel was carefully stripped by hand using a scarsten scraper and lightly sanded. Five coats of Eppifanes rubbed effect varnish was applied. All interior locker spaces were blast cleaned with soda, and painted with Eppifanes bilge paint as per the original specifications. All gelcoat finished areas were refinished as found necessary with gel coat. All of the deck headlining is secured, sound as necessary, there is no unsightly sagging headlining. Hatches were rotated forward facing further to overhaul with new acrylic. All internal hatch trims have been bedded on sealant to prevent water ingress into deck head linings. The windows which are believed to have been replaced in 2005, have been fitted with new Air Marine blinds, the hatches also have new Air Marine blinds/insect nets. There are insect nets for the three opening portlights. The interior fabric is in excellent order, and there are washable covers on the saloon seats. The teak sole boards are overlaid with beige carpet. The stainless steel 170 litre fuel tank was removed, polished and cleaned and refitted with a new gasket. This also allowed the fitting of the fuel manifold for the Eberspacher heater. The fresh water tank in the keel was removed and replaced with a Tek Tank of 218 litres which is secured with painted metal brackets. All pipework from the fresh water tank was replaced to the galley foot pump, new Flojet water pump and accumulator fitted in the engine space. The calorifier was removed for inspection and a new 2 KW immersion heating element installed. New PVC hose connectors were fitted to the calorifier and all semi rigid pipework checked. The heads compartment was refinished with a compound polish and a new Jabsco Comfort head installed with new pipework and anti siphon devices, with hoses looped to deck head. A new Flojet shower discharge pump was fitted 2016. Both Raymarine transducer cables run in split convoluted tubing below the sole boards to the switch panel, all clipped with P clamps. A new Henderson Mk IV bilge pump with seal was fitted in the cockpit, new hose and strum box, hose to pump adequately supported and clipped to timber knee below pump. The bilge has a Whale automatic bilge pump, which is installed below the port bunk. The pump has a dedicated outlet above water line to port and non return valve in way of the hose looped to deck level. The pump is automatic via the secondary panel or manually switched operation. The gas system has been fully inspected and tested, all copper hose is secured in split convoluted tubing and clipped with P clamps. The gas locker was overhauled and installed with bubble leak detector and new regulators. All gas hoses new in 2015; a gas alarm is installed in the galley and permanently wired to the main panel. There is an Eberspacher Airtronic D2 fitted in the lazarette which feeds and outlet in the saloon. This is fed fresh air from a duct, which has been fed to one of the cockpit cave lockers. The duct is protected from both water and insects. There is no smell in the cabin when using the heater, which has the digital controller. The heating 600 mm ducting is insulated throughout the full length of the cabin and concealed along the starboard side of the vessel to prevent damage. The vessel is fitted with a new Yanmar 3YM30 diesel engine, which was commissioned in August 2016 and under manufacturers warranty until August 2018. The propeller shaft is new along with the sold coupling and R&D coupling. These components have been painted. The shaft has a dripless shaft seal by PYI. New cutlass bearing in water fed stern tube. New GRP exhaust waterlock and exhaust hose. Vetus open circuit anti siphon with tel-tale water jet to port also feeds shaft seal, installed to deck level to port. New Racor turbo fuel filter on port bulkhead. New copper pipework for fuel to final ISO 7840 flexible hoses. Stop cock in cockpit locker. Drain stop cock on tank accessible from deck locker. All engine compartment acoustic insulation lead lined new. Hoses and connections from engine to calorifier. The engine compartment is open to the lazarette, and vented via a new mechanical extractor, which is ducted to the transom and operated via a solenoid from the engine ignition. Engine inlet pipework ISO 7840 via bronze strainer new. The electrical systems consist of 220 Volt AC shorepower and 12 Volt DC. The old panel was removed and the electrical compartment redesigned with a hinged door for easy access. A new Blue Seas Systems AC & DC panel was installed and a Blue Seas Systems AC selector panel to select between shore power or the inverter. In addition to the panels, all installations are independently fused with either inline slow blow fuses or high amperage fuses by Blue Sea Systems. All wiring used was tinned Anchor Marine cable. All cables are secured in split convoluted conduit and secured with P Clamps. There is a Waeco 15 amp charger and 2000-watt inverter concealed below the chart table. The Blue Sea System battery switch is a single turn with a splitting diode and emergency start position. All heavy duty battery cables are concealed with all negatives on a master pole. In addition to the main panel there is a secondary panel to power the bilge pump and radio memory when the main panel is isolated. There are 2 x 100 AH batteries for domestics and 1 x 75 AH battery for engine starting, again new in 2015. There is a 100 AH flexible solar panel with regulator secured on the Bimini. The galley has a Taylors Cooker of 2 burners, a grill and oven, which was overhauled by Tayors in 2012. The refrigerator box is fitted with a Waeco plate and compressor below the galley cupboard. All tubing is insulated and the compressor compartment vented. The steering system on the vessel is direct tiller to stock and there is an emergency tiller. In comparison to wheel steering, this makes more space in the cockpit. There is also a removable Aries wind vane, which can be fitted to the bracket on the transom. The transom bracket assembly was removed an overhauled in 2017 and the Aries is in excellent condition. A custom made bronze steering quadrant has been fitted to the rudder stock below the deck and connected to a Raymarine Linear 2 drive which is the largest drive made. This is connected to a Type 300 course computer (new 2015) and an ST 6002 control head (New 2015). Thus for autopilot operation it is a simple as pressing AUTO, no cumbersome tiller pilots to connect to the tiller. All Raymarine instruments are interfaced via Seatalk, the AIS Vesper Marine Class B Transceiver is connected to the Raymarine A 75 plotter, and the plotter can control the Autopilot. The GPS antenna independently feeds the plotter and DSC VHF radio. The Raymarine plotter can be interfaced to an ipad on deck. The sails on the vessel are in outstanding condition. The Genoa has had a new UV cover and service, the main has been serviced. The staysail has been fitted with a UV strip and modified for the furler. The previous owner apparently did not leave the sails fitted to the vessel. The John Lennon logo cruising chute has a new snuffer by Jeckells (2017).
