DESCRIPTION

This is your chance to own an iconic yacht (listed in the Yacht Registry) of historic value. This yacht was designed by naval architect Philip L. Rhodes and built with top shelf quality components at Henry B. Nevins yard at City Island New York. She was custom built for the son of Thomas Lamont, partner of JP Morgan known as "The Fox of Wall Street". She was refit in 1994 to include engines and the removal of all bronze metal for re-chroming. The quality of her build shows everywhere you look from the chrome plated bronze fixtures, gleaming teak bright work to the copper upholstery tacks. Since 1958 she has sailed only three months a year by her current second owner; she is otherwise stored in her own railway boat house. With her rakish, streamlined look, she is typical of post World War II styling. Although primarily designed as a day cruiser, she has complete cruising (estimated 90 nautical miles) accommodations. She was repainted in 2020 and the finish is incredible. She can continue service as a day cruiser or would make a great yacht or yacht club tender. She has been meticulously maintained and it shows. This yacht is "eye popping" at any dock. They don't make them like they used to...

Accommodations

With one forward stateroom, she can sleep two to four people on two folding berths. Her on deck covered seating also converts to four extra guest berths. There is a long bench settee in the transom area that could also sleep two more people. She is made for entertaining with an expansive deck, wide side decks, and a large foredeck. There is an enclosed head mid ship to port complete with handheld shower and galley opposite to starboard.

Galley

Located through the companionway down stairs mid ship to starboard is the galley. Fitted with a coal fed stove designed by "Porthole" Pete Chamberlain (with original copper coal shovel), cooking and heating are available. The icebox, now converted to refrigeration, is located under a seat to starboard across from the helm. This ice box can be accessed through a galley side panel. A Stainless Steel Sink and many small storage closets complete the galley. Even the built-in trash can is chrome plated bronze!

Master Stateroom

The master stateroom is forward on the centerline and has two folding berths. The anchor locker is two levels in the peak. There are two hanging lockers and a folding table center. There is multiple storage under the seating/berths, one which houses the original China.

Head

Located through the companionway down stairs to port is the head. It has a porcelain vacuflush head, vanity with sink and mirror along with multiple storage cabinets. There is a teak grate in the floor for showering with a handheld fixture.

Engine Details and Mechanical Equipment

She was refit in 1994 to include two Cummins 250 hp diesel ZF gear engines with 760 current hours. There is a Lugger Northern Light 3 cylinder generator located under the transom seating bench. She has Hynautic steering. There are two sets of engine spares. Her shaft is 1 3/4 inches also replaced in 1994.

Deck

The "Hood" blue canvas deck cover was replaced in 1995 and the isinglass is gold tinted. There are stairs to the side decks both port and starboard with a movable handrail. The VDO fuel tanks are located port, center and starboard with the center tank holding 120 gallons. The others hold 50 gallons each. She has a double plank mahogany hull. She has 4-blade bronze props with rudders aside. Original green and red navigation lights are located on the side decks. There are two drop down seats port and starboard that otherwise house the life rings. There are numerous child and adult life preservers. The engine compartment is located between the bench seats via a large movable deck section. The generator is located underneath the transom seating bench. There are two wash downs. The dock lines are in great condition and there are four fenders. There are two anchors on the foredeck.

Electrical

She has a new Newmar AC/DC panel located at the Captain's helm. There is a generator starter battery underneath the transom bench alongside the generator. The engine batteries are located between the engines under the deck.
