Super nice family tour boat

Beautiful classic Pettersson Smuggler Racer.

This model with its white body is one of the most beautiful in the Netherlands. The huge rear cockpit is enough for the whole family. Lovely touring through canals and rivers with a reliable Volvo Penta engine. With single carburetor, Volvo starter motor and Volvo gearbox. The engine is well insulated. The authentic vintage seats are newly upholstered and there is a staircase for easy entry. Estimated top speed is 42 kilometers per hour. This model is called the Smugler Racer because these boats were also used in the war. The teak deck is in a good and beautiful condition. Further equipped with a proportioned bow thruster, with 2 power settings to use.

The Pettersson company hired a new mechanical engineer by the name of Ruben Emanuel Östlund. This Ruben wanted to work there because he greatly admired Carl Gustaf Pettersson and Knut Ljungberg both. The then 24-year-old Östlund joined Pettersson in 1915, taking on the role of mentor. After working under the old master's tutelage for 5 years, Östlund began working as an independent designer. During the second half of the 1920s and in the 1930s he mainly designs so-called 'roef- and autoboats' which are built in large numbers at various shipyards.

B20 is the Volvo engine code for twin carb and 2 liter block and is derived from the same engine as used in the old Volvo 144 cars, if I remember correctly it is called an AQ 120 which relates to the horsepower.
The later AQ 140 & 160 were based on the B21 and B23 as used in Volvo 240 cars in the 1980s.

B20 (AQ105, AQ115, BB115, AQ130, MB20)

This B18 is a 1.8 liter (1,778 cc) automotive inline-four engine, produced by Volvo from 1961 to 1968. The cam-in-block engine had OHV valves that were operated by pushrods . The crankshaft rode in five main bearings , making the B18 quite different in design from its predecessor, the B16 with three bearings . A larger 2.0 liter (1,986 cc) version, the B20, appeared in 1969.

These engines are known to be very durable. The car with the highest mileage in the world,[1] a 1966 Volvo P1800 , covered more than 4,890,993 km (3,039,122 miles) on its original B18 engine. [2] [3]

Despite their OHV and pushrod design, the engines can run up to 6,500 rpm.

There are four variants of this engine:

B18A : Single carburetor version .

B18B : Dual carburetor version with a higher compression ratio , alternately equipped with dual sidedraft SU or Zenith / Stromberg carburetors .

B18C : Single carburetor version with a mechanical regulator with a lower compression ratio , fitted in the gasoline versions of the Volvo BM 320- tractor . This version was also used for elevator in the PS-15 radar system. [4]

B18D Dual carburetor version with a lower compression ratio
