DESCRIPTION

Here is a great opportunity to be one of the first to view this very well kept 38' Fast Trawler which has recently come on the market. Her owner who has kept her in nice shape is moving on to a larger boat to accommodate a growing family.

Introduction

Built in Fullerton, California, the 38T was a trawler yacht produced by a company most known for their high quality sailing vessels. Designer Bruce King created this vessel's attractive lines. The Fast Trawler irony offers the option of lower speed operation to maximize range, or pick up the RPM and get up to ride on plane. A solid fiberglass bottom with a shallow, stabilizing keel and a hard chine modified-V provide a steady and predictable ride in virtually all conditions, plus her boom is rigged for a North steadying sail (stowed on the bridge). Low hour, twin CAT diesels are fully serviced, as is practically every system aboard, plus a bow thruster for easy handling around the dock.

A very attractive satin finished Teak Interior which includes the bulkheads and cabinetry. Two staterooms and heads with the galley up and teak and holly sole. Comfortable upholstered canvas settees in Admiral Blue with white piping, complimenting accent pillows, and a teak dining table. Large windows for excellent visibility from her lower helm and covered walk-around side decks with a side door beside the helm station.

The current owner acquired this vessel in great condition from her previous longtime owner. He went through the boat thoroughly, upgrading with long term ownership disposition, and has now realized with a growing family that more space is needed. A rare opportunity to find a boat which has been cared for like this which should be a great benefit for the next owner.

Most of the photos on this spec sheet were taken in October 2021.

Vessel Walkthrough

Boarding from aft there is a fiberglass swim platform with a step up to a walk-through transom gate with safety cable across the opening between the stainless steel aft railings. A non-skid FBG deck has aft corner scupper drains and courtesy lighting. You can walk forward on either covered side deck to the foredeck and side deckhouse salon doors or to the portside trunk cabin side steps up to the flybridge. Stepping into the salon via the starboard side deck door, you will find the lower helm starboard forward. Next are stairs down to the guest stateroom and day/guest head. On the main deck to port is a L-shape settee with a teak fold-open Hi-Lo table. Across to starboard is a 2-person settee lounge and further aft is the Galley. The aft portside of the salon has the side deck door, facing forward is the refrigerator with a cabinet above that contains a swing out TV. The engine room access is via salon sole hatches and/or lift-up master stateroom steps aft. The master stateroom has a walkaround queen berth set athwartships. There is an ensuite head with an full enclosed shower. Headroom in the salon is 6'8" with teak baton strips above, flush pin-spot lighting (all lighting is LED), and a centerline sea-rail. Headroom is 6'5" in the guest stateroom, 6'4" in the guest head, 6'2" in the master stateroom and 6'4" in the master shower, 6'3" on the side decks and well over 7' on the flybridge. The master stateroom berth is 6'6" long and the guest stateroom berths are 7' long. The guest stateroom has a V-berth and there is an insert filler to make it into a large queen-like berth.

Salon

There is a teak and holly sole throughout the interior. Satin varnished teak interior bulkheads and cabinetry with louvered doors. High gloss teak sea rails and corner trim moldings. Two settees have custom Admiral Blue sunbrella cushions with white trim piping (2019). Off white curtains and valances were new in 2019 as was the Fusion stereo. There is a Visio flat panel TV on a swivel wall mount which is hidden inside a cabinet above the refrigerator. Marine Air reverse-cycle AC system with digital thermostats was reported renewed in 2014. The two sliding side doors, port aft and starboard forward allow good natural flow ventilation when weather is favorable, plus the side windows can slide open. The teak interior gives the boat a comfortable feel and the covered side decks provide shade to the deckhouse windows. Forward windows get some shade protection from the brow where the flybridge slightly overhangs the deckhouse.

Galley

The Galley is aft to the starboard side of the salon and L-shaped. Corian countertop is "Savannah Magma" color with a Force 10 three burner propane stove and oven built into it. The stovetop has a stainless and Corian cover to increase the countertop when not in use. The aft window is opening for when ventilation is needed. Above the window is a GE microwave convection oven with cabinet storage next to it. The counter has fiddle rails surrounding it and a polished stainless steel double sink undermounted with Grohe wand style mixer faucet. There is a separate drinking water faucet that is plumbed through a Seagull water purification system. There are three drawers and cabinet storage beneath the counter. Across to the portside is a standup Norcold 12v/110v refrigerator which was reported to be new in 2014. It has a separate freezer compartment on the top. There is also a NewMar propane control panel nearby adjacent to the main electrical panel.

Cabins

The Master cabin is aft and has a walk-around queen berth with the headboard to the port side. There is great natural lighting from two large windows on the aft trunk cabin and side window which are all treated with Ocean Air roll-up black out shades and newer curtains matching those in the salon. Two flexible Denmark LED reading lights are mounted by the bed and a standing book rack is to the side. Aft is a small nightstand. The cabin has a rear door to the starboard side that opens to the aft deck with a short 2-step teak ladder to access. Forward to the portside of the stateroom is a teak louvered door closet with cedar wall hanging section to one side and shelf storage to the other. Below is drawer storage and there are more drawers on the opposite wall of the room. Forward to the starboard side is the ensuite head with separate stall shower and fresh-water Vacuflush head.

Both master and guest heads have teak grate sole, a Corian vanity top, with undermount polished oval stainless steel sink, and air conditioning vents. Both cabins have stainless solar-powered vent fans on their ceilings.

The Guest cabin is forward and has a large Lewmar deck hatch overhead which can supply light and ventilation. Two stainless steel opening portlights either side of the cabin, on the portside one is in the head the other in the closet. The V-berth has a filler section cushion to make into a full size berth. The hull sides in this cabin have teak wall planking. A hanging locker with cedar-lined wall is to starboard aft and a clothes changing cushioned bench seat is just below it. This cabin can be closed off from the salon with a hinged bi-fold door and upper folding hatch cover. The guest head has a retractable hand-held shower wand faucet and an opening stainless portlight on the hull side.
