Construction

Moulded in 1984 by Windboats Marine Ltd. to a Stephen Jones design, fitted out by Landamores and sold by Oysters. White GRP hull with red trim. Composite cast iron/lead fin keel. Tiller steering to spade hung rudder. Self draining cockpit. Permateek decking on cockpit seats and floor (new 2010).

'Erotic Bear' was stored ashore from 1997 until 2006, consequently much of her equipment had limited use. Her present owners significantly modernised her deck layout and rebuilt her interior from 2008 – 2010, with advice and guidance from the designer Stephen Jones. The decks were resprayed in 2010, with non-slip repainted 2014 and windows replaced in 2007. Elanco hull seal flush skin fittings installed.

'bear' History

'Erotic Bear' is a Stephen Jones 3/4 tonner cruiser/racer with a history. She was one of the series of ‘Bears’ successfully owned and sailed by Kit Hobday, she came after 'Geriatric Bear', and before 'Independent Bear'.
From 1997 to 2006 she was stored ashore. Her present owners rebuilt and refurbished her during 2008-2010 with many new improvements. This work was carried out in a boat shed, so she was once again protected from the weather.
From a July 2013 survey: “ the gelcoat and laminate are considered to be in a very good structural condition for a vessel of this age.” Since being rebuilt she has been cruised on the East Coast and to Holland and lightly raced.
