DESCRIPTION

Nelson Landguard£49,950

A classically styled, twin screw motorboat with excellent sea-keeping qualities. Well fitted out by Windboats Marine of Wroxham in 1991 and fitted with twin dependable 110hp diesel engines. It is believed that this boat was hull number five of the eight boats built by Windboats to this design.

This Landguard Nelson 28 has an excellent pilothouse dinette and galley area with all round views, a roomy well-equipped helm position and a comfortable forward cabin with separate heads compartment.

This particular example is well found and in good order throughout, just about perfect for a couple wishing to explore the coasts of the UK and Europe in a sensible, seaworthy and comfortable vessel.

Accommodation:

A comfortable and practical interior for two or three with berths for up to four or five. Varnished light oak joinery throughout.
Loose laid fitted carpet in the two cabins (2018).
Matching striped curtains throughout (2018).
Webasto diesel fired hot air heating system.
Pressurised hot and cold water system.
The accommodation is laid out from forward:
Forward cabin with: Two V-shaped berths with stowage under the berths. Vanity unit with drawers and cupboard, plus a separate hanging locker aft to port.
Fiddled, wide side stowage shelves outboard and above each berth.
Five opening portlights to the coachroof's sides in addition to overhead deck hatch. Convenient access to anchor locker via a hatch in the forward bulkhead.

Heads Compartment to starboard with: Moulded Hand basin, mixer tap with flexible shower head  Teak floor grating with overboard pump out Shower curtain.
Jabsco Sea Toilet (2014) connected either to a black water holding tank or direct discharge to the sea.
Tannoy-type vent to deckhead above and opening portlight to coachroof side.

Deck Saloon with: Helm's seat to starboard and 'Navigator's' seat to Port, both covered in blue leatherette. Both seats fold forward when not required providing useful additional space to the galley area and seating area to starboard. 
U-shaped seating to starboard around a pedestal mounted leafed table opposite the galley area to port. The seating backrest hinges upwards to form a pilot berth, complete with canvas lee cloth
Comfortable seating height to be able to enjoy all round external views.
Galley Area with: Two burner Spinflow Nelson gas cooker with oven and grill. Hinged cover board/work surface over cooker & sink and the navigator's seat hinges forward to provide useful additional working area beneath.
Stainless steel sink with mixer tap and separate drainer sink.
Large, practical lockers with fiddled shelves within and cutlery drawer under work surface. 48 Litre Front-opening Waeco refrigerator. Two Tannoy-type vents to deckhead above.
Door to cockpit:
Cockpit area: spacious aft cockpit with a full width seat across the stern and two seats on the engine covers port and starboard against the main cabin structure. The seats and engine covers are teak laid with loose fitted cushions over (2018).
Beneath the aft seating are three removable storage boxes (one containing the two gas bottles). Beneath these boxes there is access to the steering gear.
Between the rear seat and engine boxes are two removeable teak veneered folding tables sitting on stainless steel pedestals.
Enclosing the cockpit area is a full canvas canopy with removable sides. (2014)

Mechanical And Electrical Systems

2 x Thornycroft Hino WO4D 4 cylinder 110hp naturally aspirated direct injection diesel engines with Hurth hydraulic Vee drive gearboxes. (These engines were designed and built by Toyota)
Shaft drive to twin three blade props each with 'Spurs' rope cutter
Single lever Morse controls and full, duplicated instrumentation for each engine.
Hydraulic steering system.
Three 12 volt 115 amp hour Rolls batteries, two for stbd engine cranking and domestic use and one for port engine cranking. Batteries selected and isolated through double pole switches and provided with a 'bridging' link switch.

Batteries charged by the engine driven alternators and an AC electrical battery charger.
240v Shore power system with four 13 Amp sockets to saloon and cabin (2 with USB Points)
Domestic hot water is provided by a calorifier with a 220/240V AC immersion heater and circulation from the starboard engine.

History And Construction

The Landguard Nelson 28 was designed by TT Boats, hull & deck moulded by the Tyler Boat Company, and fitted out/completed by Windboats Marine Ltd of Wroxham in 1991
Only three previous owners from new and a well respected head-turner wherever she appears.

All GRP construction with semi-displacement hull design and attractive dark blue hull. Varnished teak spray rails and badging to hull beneath heavy duty D fendering.  Treadmaster non-slip panels to cockpit, side decks and for'deck.
Hull epoxied when new and retreated in 2012 by Symblast Ltd.
