Boat Information And Specifications

LIST OF PURPLE PARROTS ITEMS AND FITTINGS.

In the Bow there are 2 Gas bottles stored in locker with bottom ventilation.
For safety an Alde Bubble tester has been installed in the gas bottle locker.
A Bow thruster is mounted on tube behind the gas bottles under the front step locker.
Under the starboard step locker at the front is a battery charger and a battery which serves the Bow Thruster.
Under the Port step locker is an anchor and chain and a tap connection to the cold water tank which was made larger than normal and holds approx. 150 gallons.         This tank is made of stainless steel.
Side decks 100mm wide minimum which are wider than some and this makes it safer to travel along  the outside of the boat.
All windows are double glassed to reduce condensation.
All ventilators on the roof, are of the flat "Ventair Type" to allow ropes on the roof to travel over  without getting caught, the "Ventair" over the gas stove is motorised.
There are no low ventilation covers in the front or back doors. At the front on each side of the boat  there are ventilation ducts.                                                                            At the front, the duct bridges the outer-skin and the bulk head in a triangle shape which allows air to be fed through to the grills at the underside of the cupboard in the
cabin.                                                                                                                                At the rear there is a ventilation duct on each side of the rear outside boxes. These feed air through to the duct outlet grill close the floor. Although complicated this provides ventilation, but without draughts which makes the boat more comfortable and complies with the boat safety  regulations.
At the rear there are two air fans under the floor to circulate the air in the bilges. These were put in to keep the under floor fresh and to remove any damp air or fumes that may have accumulated in the bilge. They are turned on for a few minutes once a month when the engine is running.
A towel is placed over the outlets under the rear sink and wardrobe duct outlets so that the air is forced out of the boat.
Inside the cabin the bottom of the hull is lined with roofing felt with the paving slabs laid on a substance which heals should the slabs move slightly. The floor was then covered with 3/4 ply WPB.
The cabin sides and ceiling were sprayed with I 1/2 inch foam. The sides of the cabin were covered with 1/2 inch ply WPB and the ceiling with 1/8 ply.
The ceiling was covered in sponge backed vinyl to reduce the noise levels and for easy cleaning.                                                                                                                          All walls were covered in Laminate again for ease of cleaning.
All ceiling lights have low demand L E D lights to reduce battery drain.
All windows fitted are double glazed.                                                                            New curtains were fitted last year together with new carpets.
First locker on the port side has the water pump for the whole boat. The starboard locker houses a radio.
The first Table and benches/ dinette turns into a double bed, with storage under.
The Kitchen divider houses two shelves on wheels for dry food storage etc. This splits for ease of getting to the outside shelves.
Behind this divider is the kitchen sink and set of drawers.
The other side of the galley is the gas stove and above it a Microwave and a New fridge fitted this year.                                                                                                                  At the side is the gas isolation valve.
The bathroom is self-explanatory. There is a New Shower curtain. The flushing toilet pumps waste into the Bulkhead holding tank, at the rear.                                              Due to the extra capacity of the water tank there is usually enough water for two persons showering for at least a week.                                                                         The water in the tank can easily be checked by the water gauge. The shower has been fitted with a Wale Gulper pump.
Next aft is the bed which can also be made into a dinette table and bench sitting area with lockers under similar to the first table and benches. The bed can be made wider (which we prefer), using the 4 pieces of wood on the side positioned across the gangway and folding out the wooden flaps to form a base for the bed.                  Cushions are laid on the flat base and the bed folded out to give much more room.
At the end of the bed is a wardrobe and an extra-large hot water cylinder with two coils. One coil is connected to the engine cooling water and this heats the water up remarkably quickly. The second coil is connected to the heating system. There is an electric immersion heater fitted to the Cylinder but this has never been connected up as it was not found necessary.
Opposite, is the main switch gear with a small hand basin under which is a must, to immediately wash ones hands after handling ropes etc.
The main switchgear can be opened to show the VICTRON PHEONIX MULTI, which controls the 12 volt and 240 V. This is an expensive item, not found in most boats. It is wired into the 3 New leisure batteries replaced at the end of last year, which gets its power from the engine alternator.                                                                                  The 240V is wired to run at the gunnel level and the 12V is run at ceiling height. All 12V and 240V is separated in the switch box area and each 12V switch is labelled and fused.                                                                                                                         Under the fuse box against the bulkhead is the Isolation switch for all the interior of the boat.
The 240V can be charged from either end of the boat as a changeover has been incorporated above the Victron. The lead goes through a Galvanic Isolator regardless of which end the boat is being charged from.
The step out on to the rear deck is shaped into the holding tank, and the pump-out is positioned on the port side gunnel.                                                                            There is a soil tank sensor and gauge which is fitted under the switch gear on the top of the tank on the starboard side.
Aft of the rear bulkhead outside the floor can be lifted to get down to the engine which is a, Beta Marine Engine 35, with P R M gearbox and a flexible coupling, Propeller and shaft.
The Diesel tank surrounds the rear of the boat and was made larger than standard at 60 gallons.
The charging circuit on the engine was up- dated to the latest manufacture's recommendations at the end of last year.
There are 3 new leisure batteries mounted on the starboard swim together with the dedicated engine battery.                                                                                                An Isolation switch is mounted beside the batteries.
On the port swim is an hospital silencer and the Eberspacher D4WSC Hydronic heater, which heats the cabin via 4 radiators. This Heater was overhauled at the end of last year.
Outside at the front and rear of the boat  New covers were fitted 18 months ago.
