DESCRIPTION

1958 35ft West Channel Class Bermudan Sloop. Tilly III is in lovely condition, having had a major restoration completed in 2004, and has then been maintained very well up to the present day. Following a 2020 survey, a small list of recommendations have all been rectified including replacements for the cockpit locker lids, side shroud chainplates, genoa sheets and fresh water pump. The transom has also been varnished and the engine and life raft have been serviced. A beautiful classic yacht in turn key condition, ready to take you on adventures in style!

History

TILLY III was built in 1958 to F C Morgan Giles West Channel Class, a series of designs inspired original from the Falmouth Quay Punt and Morgan Giles earlier West of England One Design. TILLY III was built for H Roberts of Warrington, Lancashire and replaced his previous yacht TILLY II, a Morgan Giles West of England One Design. In the early 1960s C E Christian from Newquay bought the vessel and as a member of the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club moored TILLY III in Falmouth. In 1964 N Devonport of Buckfastleigh, Devon became the third registered owner initially keeping TILLY III in Teignmouth and later in Torquay. She remained in his ownership for many years until being bought, after a period being laid-up by a professional boatbuilder in 2000. TILLY III was re-launched in 2004 after an extensive refit throughout which included:

– New planks as required, in particular in way of every old skin fitting.

– Chain plates, forestay and backstay points re-bolted in stainless steel

– New self-draining cockpit rebuilt in old style
– Rudder removed, epoxied and re-hung
– Interior joinery removed except for three main bulkheads
– Entire interior hull stripped and repainted

– All hanging knees, floors and bulkhead supports re galvanised and powder coated
– New stainless bilge floors
– Fittings and furniture re-fitted or renewed in old style
– New galley and chart area
– New teak floorboards and bearers
