Built by Marine Construction in 1971, the Tomahawk 25 is a fun, fast yet comfortable sailing yacht ideal as a family cruiser or for a bit of club racing round the cans of a weekend. Shoal draft 1.40M fin keel with tiller steering. Reliable inboard Volvo installed in 1992. Deck stepped spars with a sail wardrobe to suit all applications. Comes complete with colour Garmin plotter, NASA speed/depth/log and VHF radio.
Below decks is bright and airy thanks to the predominantly white GRP moulded furniture bases and fittings. Headroom is a decent 6' at the main hatch and still a respectable 5'5" in the forward cabin and heads. The main saloon is accessed via the companionway with sliding hatch and washboards. Aft on either side of the engine bay are two quarter berths. To port is the galley area with 2-burner spirit stove and sink unit. Moulded cubby hole stowage for plates and cups. Open storage above. Moulded cool box for perishables. At aft end of galley is a fold away chart table. Opposite the galley is a L-Shaped seating area with cushions and a removable table. This area will convert to a double berth. In the forepeak is a further double V-berth with infill board. Separate heads with jabsco toilet. Toilet valves have been serviced. GRP constructed sailing yacht with shoal draft fin keel and short blade rudder mounted on protective skeg. Under water areas have been sanded back ready for priming and antifouling. ballast keel and rudder have been sanded and primed ready for antifoul. Smart red gelcoat topsides in remarkably good condition for her years with good depth. These have been lightly polished. White topsides with contrasting black band above the hull to deck join. This is finished with an aluminium and rubber fender. Stainless steel bow fitting with roller. Anchor locker with secured lid with good capacity for chain. Raised grp toerail with mounted stainless steel bow and stern rails joined by aluminium stanchions and uncoated stainless guradwireds. All walkways in moulded non-slip coatings. Raised coachroof with opening forward hatch to forward cabin. Deck vents to heads compartment and galley area. Handily placed teak grab rails.
Good sized self draining cockpit with moulded seating. Removable wooden locker tops port and starboard aft. Removable wooden cockpit grate.
Engines & ElectricsVessel was repowered in 1992 with a reliable and economical Volvo Penta MD2002. This 18hp unit is situated beneath the companionway and the engine housing can be completely removed to allow easy access for servicing and daily checks. Reduction gearbox driving a stainless steel shaft with 3-bladed bronze propeller. The shaft and propeller are protected by a skeg. Single lever engine control and engine start panel in cockpit. Fuel is stored in a 50 Litre tank and is prefiltered before reaching engine. Engine was serviced in 2019 and winterised in November 2020 before lifting ashore.
Bank of 2x12V batteries situated in a locker beneath the starboard quarter berth. These are currently removed and at owners house on a trickle charge. Rotary style isolator switch mounted next to 12V switch panel above engine hatch. The batteries are recharged via the engine alternator.
