DESCRIPTION

The Macgregor 26 M is the final version of these ever-popular trailer sailers, offering a useful combination of sailing, high-speed motoring (can pull a skier), spacious open plan accommodation, and built-in buoyancy for added safety. A water ballast system allows good sailing ability for their type but keeps the trailing weight low, making them easily towed behind most family saloons if desired, they are a truly versatile and economical family boat! Seajay has a very good inventory including Yamaha 60hp EFi 4-stroke outboard (serviced May 2021), galvanised trailer, wind gen and solar panel, Lowrance GPS chart plotter with AIS, DSC VHF radio, and was epoxy coated beneath the waterline from new, an important and often overlooked option! Now in need of a good clean inside and general recommissioning after an extended period unused ashore, she has been priced competitively to reflect this.

Accommodation

The accommodation offers up to 6 berths in the open plan cabin with approx. 6' max headroom. Double V berth forward with stowage areas and hatch to foredeck. Heads compartment to starboard (separated from the cabin with a bi-fold door which can also close off the forepeak instead) with chemical toilet and storage. Dinette to starboard which converts into another small double berth. Linear galley to port with a moulded sink, space to use either a portable or fixed cooker (not provided), and stowage in various lockers. Large aft double berth under cockpit sole with more stowage areas. Caramel leatherette and complimenting light brown cotton upholstery.

Although the interior appears to generally be in good, lightly used condition, due to an extended period of time unused it would benefit from a thorough clean prior to use, and this has been reflected in the price.

Mechanical Systems

Located on transom, Yamaha 60hp EFi High-Thrust 4-stroke petrol outboard engine (new 2009). Yamaha digital gauge. Single lever pedestal mounted controls with power trim/tilt and electric start. Wheel steering. 25L Portable plastic fuel tank for easy refuelling.

The engine was professionally inspected and serviced in May 2021 and has been very lightly used since new having only run for 110hrs.

Construction

Macgregor 26M built by MacGregor Yachts of the U.S.A in 2008 for the 2009 model year to their own design, first launched September 2009. Blue GRP hull, white superstructure with black style stripes, and decks with moulded non-slip surfaces. Built-in solid foam floatation system. Water ballast system with lifting keel (521Kg water ballast and 136Kg permanent ballast) for ease of launching and trailing. Lifting centreboard operated by line led aft to cockpit. Epoxy coated beneath the waterline from new. Twin lifting rudders. Wheel steering to either outboard or rudders. Self-draining cockpit and anchor well. Rubber rubbing strakes.

Seajay was purchased from new in September 2009 by her owner, and has been lightly used ever since. Unfortunately, a combination of advancing age and recent factors mean that use has been very limited in recent years, living ashore for the last few seasons unused, so it is time for her to go to a new home for new adventures. With a good clean and some upgrades to galley and safety equipment she is likely to be the best around, with many important options fitted from new such as galvanised trailer, mast lowering kit, epoxy coating, larger fuel injected outboard, large screen plotter, and handy power generation from the solar panel and wind generator.
