IT IS FAIR TO SAY THAT WE ARE ENTERING UNPRECEDENTED TIMES. THE PRIORITY IS TO KEEP EACH OTHER SAFE. WE ARE BEING ADVISED AGAINST UNNECESSARY TRAVEL SO WITH THIS IN MIND WE ARE OFFERING FACETIME AND WHATSAPP VIDEO CALLING AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO PHYSICAL VIEWINGS.

"Chinook" is without a doubt one of the most beautiful small wooden sailing yachts I have had the pleasure to sell. She is the sister ship to the famous "Trekka" which was the smallest yacht to ever circumnavigate the globe during the late 50's. Built to plans provided by the Laurent Giles office, her owner worked with fastidiousness to ensure the end product was perfect in every way. Built over a four year period using only the best materials available, she was sailed and admired for many years on Ullswater in the Lake District and further afield on the west coast of Scotland. She has been undercover now since the the early 1980's as her owner was involved in building bigger craft for his other adventures. Her mast and boon are Sitka Spruce and her engine the original Seagull which looks like it has just come out of the box.
If you desire a "Classic" on which to enjoy the elements, then look no further. She comes with a purpose built braked trailer from which to explore new cruising grounds.
Accommodation :
Below decks has two berths. There is no cushions for the berths as they are believed to have been lost.
There is a hand pumped water faucet but we are unsure of the tank size. There is space for a small gas or spirit stove and good storage aft under the aft deck.
Interior is bright thanks to the numerous port lights.
Inventory :
Anchor with chain and warp
Twin axle braked trailer
Mooring warps
Fenders
Staff holder
Mooring cleats
Mechanical :
Construction:
Carvel constructed sailing sloop with fin keel, skeg hung rudder and tiller steering.
Built to plans provided by the office of Laurent Giles between 1962 and 1968.
Western Red Cedar planking used for their low moisture content and durability.
American Oak stem with Canadian Rock Elm frames.
Spruce and Mahogany beam scantlings.
The under water areas appear to have been sheathed and are in excellent condition.
Marine ply deck finished in painted cream non slip.
Interior joinery a combination of Mahogany and Iroko.
Cast iron ballast. Tiller steering.
The hull has been rubbed down in preparation for the top coats.
Engine:
The engine is the original Seagull 8 hp which looks like it has just come out of the box.
This has the larger tank reservoir but offers good economy.
The engine sits on a removable bracket at the transom.
Original Seagull documentation available.
Sails & Rigging:
Sitka Spruce varnished spars in excellent condition.
Like the vessel, the mast and boom have been stored under cover.
The rigging is stainless wire.
Unfortunately the sails are no longer available.
